Got a HTC Desire today, help please

Got my upgrade phone today a HTC Desire, 1st smartphone that I intend to keep got a N97 last time & put it straight on ebay as it felt cheap & I didn't think It would last too long.

Anyone know how I check my pending downloads? I have selected a couple of apps from market and get message 'your item will be downloaded' but nothing else seems to happen.

Thanks, yes its a very nice phone especially having had a Nokia 6233 for over 3 years

Just takes a bit of getting used to, but I will get there in the end.
