Hey all, in the words of my scottish brethren, last night i got 'chibbed'.

Made the silly mistake of walking home from a night out (and i'm normally so careful) and this car with 3 neds chased me around a bit, to which i ran. Unfortunatly i ran up a cul de sac, and of course the 3 of them were in hot pursuit, asked me why i ran, gee let me think! So the lead guy proceeded to whack me with an empty bottle,my arms were up in a protective fence at the time so my left arm took the brunt as my right hand slapped his jaw and sent him on his arse (good to know 8 years of martial arts weren't wasted) luckily the door i knocked was answered and they ran off. Ended up in A&E for 4 hours and got 3 stitches in my ear and my cheek is a bit bruised.

I hate this ned culture!

I'm in east ayrshire up here. You make one mistake and that's it eh. One thing that worried me was i saw the bottle that whacked me and the bottom was smashed out, i dunno if that was before or after connecting with my head tho.

I don't really understand what compels UK youths to commit random assaults. What sort of reasoning is behind this sort of flagrant lawlessness?

my guess would be the 'rush' of the fight/persuit or whatever.

If i remember correct NED stands for non educated delinquent.

Sorry to hear that mate.

It doesnt "stand" for anything in the same way chav doesnt stand for anything. People like to take words like that and turn them into acronyms though.

I have heard a few things for chav etc, the reality is it is a contraction of another word.

no no no, it was used in the 1980s or something by police as to describe a certain type of person. It was originally "Council housed and violent" but since then its developed several other meanings. IIRC.
