Got my new ( to me ) car yesterday

I dont mind the Bora, it's a half decent car, but £5k seems like an awful lot of money. It's not a world away from Jetta prices, bit made to pay that much for a Mk4 gen car..

I think we should have a poll to change you to [Jetta]Fox for a while.:p

I quite like the bora too, although I'd agree that it seems expensive. Still, sounds like you did your research and better with the best bora than the crappest jetta!

Quite. A decent 140bhp Jetta is a good £2-3k more than the Bora.

Either way, a Leon FR would have been an even better bet ;)

And a 5k jetta would be a bit of a dog. I don't think I'd have spent 5 on a bora, but if it's as good as the OP says then its probably not massively overpriced.

Leon might have been a better bet, although despite the shared platform they're fairly different cars.

It's a 3 year old ex fleet diesel Jetta, it's not exactly a 9 year old 5 owner 3 series is it?

It's not an alternative, just another reason why £5k for a Mk4 Golf based car is just too much money these days.

Nice enough cars,Boras, tough as old boots too from what I've seen of a mates much abused example.

You did pay through the nose for it though imo.
