I've just signed up to move into a new apartment in Windsor and I was just wondering if the Windsor people would give me their general impressions of the area I'm moving to. The place is on Clarence road beside the big roundabout which takes onto the dual carraigeway towards Slough + M4.

So what are your impressions of that particular part of Windsor? I was very impressed with the property and the area looked nice in general. It's only a 10 minute walk into town as well so it suits me down to the ground :D

Here's a Google Earth pic of where it is:

Any opinions and advice are welcome, thanks :)

Nice area, just need to watch out for the traffic during the school run hours - gets very busy around that time.

The large patch of green next to Maidenhead Road is The Windsor Boys school, with the Girls school just off that screen to the south so as you can image that round-a-bout is a bit of a bottleneck.

Thanks, I never really thought about that. I work shifts so it shouldn't be too much of a problem thankfully! What sort of age are the children who go to the schools? Would I be liekly to have any problems from them?

Blimey, I had no idea air traffic controllers got paid so well And you're only 20?!

I don't get paid enough :p

Those 2 schools runs from Year 9-13 (13-18 years old). On the whole they have a good reputation, so I wouldn't expect too much trouble. Your only likely to have trouble in the morning from about 8-10am and in the evening between 3-4pm and the odd occasion when theres an accident on the relief road between Slough and Windsor.

That shouldn't be a problem then, thanks :)

As for the price, thats about the going rate for Windsor. I don't mind paying the extra few quid to live in a nice area.

I know it's OT, but I take it you've been posted to LTCC ?

Do you know what sectors you're doing ?

Aye, I'm training on north bank at the minute. We might have spoken on the phone and not known it :D

Thats pretty nice place you have there. Are you living by yourself?

Have you thought about getting a mortgage? £1100 a month would go a long way in other areas close by for a mortgage.

I'd love a mortgage but being a young whippersnapper I don't have the savings to cover a deposit. The centre at which I work is moving down to Southampton sometime late next year so I'm going to wait until we move down there before I buy. All being well I should have enough to cover a deposit on a nice place :)

The rent seems very reasonable to me. Paid that amount on a similar flat not too far away. But that was a few years ago and the second bedroom was quite small.

Scuzi, are you moving into Buckingham, palace or what???

I guess it's a nice place though. You're a pilot aren't you? That would explain the high rent and the fact you can afford that much!

I'm buying a 3 bed semi in one of the most expensive areas outside London, and the repayments are ony £725 month!

Its a lovely place, dont get me wrong, but dont you think your kinda throwing money away renting? i mean, 1100,

I wish I was moving to the palace! I'm an air traffic controller btw.
Unfortunately I have to take the hit on throwing the money away on rent until I can afford a deposit for a mortgage.
