Got Some Free Beer....!!!

Is it likely to be biologically unsafe? Dare I open it? I have a load of beer in the fridge already, waiting for Christmas, so I though perhaps I could dish some out when my mates come round for some seasonal jars? Maybe that'd be unwise and I'd end up on a manslaughter charge?

What does OcUK think?

Ok, I'll open it up outside. I had express waring that it might be a bit 'lively' upon opening....

The results:

To say it is gassy in that keg would be an understatement. The resulting glass was originally about 80% head from the beer spraying into the glass/over the worktop/everywhere. It exited the tap with a hollow, high pitched farty sound.

It smells....picks up glass...more alcoholic than 4.8%, though quite normal.

It tastes....(probably) nothing like it should (I've only had Boddingtons once before), pretty watery, savoury, you can tell it's beer, but kind of 16th century style. A bit like honey minus the sugar. I think I need to buy a can to compare to be able to deem it fit for human consumption. I will however drink this half pint and see what happens!

The weird thing is it's totally flat. Is it meant to be?

If so, then I guess the gas in the keg is from further fermentation. I think I'll pour another....
