Got this seasonal flu virus thing

Yup, I've had it too - it started with a sore throat on the 21st and by the 23rd I was totally out of it, only just started to get back to normal the last day or two and I'm still very dizzy, focusing on things is a bit of a chore and TV makes my head hurt :(

I'm going to be adventurous and have a few drinkies tonight I think, not doing the usual NYE face melting session though :p

I have this too, currently on day 4 of misery.

Day 1 - woke up with a really bad headache, unable to do anything. Felt like a really really bad hangover (but it wasn't).

Day 2 - Coughing, lots of it, no headache, feeling better, went out for dinner.

Day 3 - What the hell is wrong with my nose? Blocked, dry, nosebleeds, dim headache, achey all over.

Day 4 - Better this morning, still have a stupid nose, sight headache and general aches.

Total lame.

Had'nt been ill for the whole year .. oh yer until i reached december and i've been knocked down with a bad throat infection, recovered from that and 2 weeks later (tuesday night) i start coming down with a flu like virus, been in bed the past 2 days, aching, headaches, temperature , loss of appetite .. ahh well theres goes any new years and weekend plans i had .. bring on 2011 ! :(

Damn! I've started with this today. :(

So far I've got the stuffy head / headache, slight coughing and sore throat. Just hope that's as far as it goes.

Rubbish, New Years Eve and I've got exactly the same symptoms as the majority.

Had 2 pints last night - woke up, assuming it was a hangover.
Finished work at midday, lay down on bed and just woke up. Dizzy, headache, slight cough, general fever and weakness.

First time I've been ill this year - and I live on a bloody island, I would have thought that would have been protection enough from you mainlanders and your germs!

Got this Tuesday night, my birthday :/

Tue night, a slight cough, slight fever

Wed, woke and stayed in bed till 6pm got up and went back to bed with laptop, severe fever

Thur, cough worse, feels like a hammer and cable tie competition in my cranium :/
severe fever

Fri, feel a little better, however the runny nose and explosive sneezes are tiresome, fever almost gone

Not going out tonight as i've infected the gf and she's currently in bed barking, well croaking orders ;)

Damn this bug. Just gone and RUINED my evening.

Caught it about 10 days ago. Started with a tickly throat. Tunred into a really bad sore throat. Then started coughing and snotting. Kind of been ok for the last few days, still coughing a bit and runny nose but nothing to annoy.

Was at work today and my ears started popping. Left work at two and one on the right was getting really bad. Got home and am in a lot of pain. Stuck ear drops in and nothing. Sat in the shower for an hour feeling sorry for myself. Got out and went dizzy and nearly collapsed.

Am sitting here now in a LOT of pain. Right ear is throbbing and all I can hear is that tinny little whine like when you have been to a gig.

Had an Asprin hoping it would help (and so I could make it to the pub for a while at least), but there is no way I am driving like this.

Damn you!

*shakes fist*

Don't take these winter bug's lightly.

This was a mate's status update on 21st December, 9:44PM:
feels terrible. deffo coming down with ManFlu - scientists round the world are working 24 hours a day for a cure. well, they'd better be - not like they've got owt else to be doing!

He was dead by Boxing day, aged 33.

Turns out he got pneumonia, then while in hospital it brought on a heart attack.

He wasn't a close friend but I'd known him 15 years or so. He was younger than I am and it hasn't quite sunk in yet.

Rest is the key, put your life on hold, everything can wait, relax and don't try and go out and drink etc, getting pneumonia is all to easy when your immunity is taking a bashing.

Apparently infection rates have gone up 40% since Christmas.

Feel like death at the moment. Have had the squirts all day, constantly feel like throwing up, got the chills and a high temperature at the same time, whole body aches, and feel dizzy as ****. That's the new year written off :(

Flu sucks.

I have exactly the same symptoms. Feel absolutely awful right now, ruined my new years eve plans. :(

I had the same as you OP for 5 days before Christmas, it was horrible and the doctor just said take lots of fluids and paracetomol.

Here in Stoke the hospital has set aside whole HDU (High Dependancy Units) to swine flu, also we have low stocks of liquid tamiflu for infants, which i think is a national thing too.

Drank through it last night, woke up at 6am feeling terrible. Been in bed all day - literally left twice for a quick pee, but only with the help of a friend! First time I've been able to sit up in bed really all day.
