GOW - Who's Man Enough?

That last game was a beast! Glad i stayed.. good games.. i think we should inject Alrik and Krono with Malibu or something first though.. then everything would be "seriously easy goin".
 
I'm glad I'm having a bit of break to be honest, it's kinda lost its fun appeal over the past week but I have faith in the old girl and will be back playing next week!

Play nicely...

Oh and Gord, I'm a loud angry drunk (even worse when playing games).

And I was by far the least moaning person last night. I'd die and enter a room of moaners (even when I was the first to die)


I mean I see a pattern emerging here:
First there was
You have host advantage with the shotgun - repeat infinitum
then
THe chainsaw has some sort of hover on it, you khow the lancer also shoots bullets ?
Also
All you do is stick people with grenades, did you know that they can also be thrown
Another Gem
You know there are other weapons on thelevel other than the torque bow. Clearly when you get 13 kills with this gun and 3 at best in every other level it is obvious that this is a no skill weapon
Followed by
Every time your cornered you scarper
Closely followed by
Your as bad as cadman (Alrik actualy had the gaul to say this when he scarpers as much as the next person)
Now
All you do is pistol whip people!!


FFS There is having a whinge because you died, but it seems like any tactic or excessive weapon use is illegal or something. Quite simplily a person is going to use what works best for them.
I do agree that it is frustraiting that some people seem to do the same thing time and time again. with little variation.
Alrik in escilation (or what ever its called, always has the grenades, always tries to tag you if you hide at the top of the stairs with the rock cover and always trieds to throw it at you if you are futher up. Why does he do it? Because it works for him.
I always rund down the back of canals and attemp to shotgun people, why because it works.

Yes I think the pistol whip is really off ballanced I can fire a shotgun blast to your face or cheast and you turn round and punch me WTF. You should be dead. but thats life. IMO it should be a faster impact with no stun and less power. Infact just removing the stun from the pistol would probably improve things.
But the pistol is the way is it is and like all the other "Cheap Kills" we will find a way of dealing with ti so that the people offending (and its not just one person tbh) will reduce their reliance on it because it gets them killed.

i popped in last night, but had to leave because i had a couple of (real) friends that also wanted to play and i took the last slot left.

it is usually the case that i have friends that also want to play and and therefore please accept my apologies for ignoring any requests to join kronos server and spamming people with requests to join mine

as a footnote, if kronos server is full then feel free to join me if im online (but always try kronos server first ;) )

This is the point I want to note, I get tagged as a no skill player because I use melee attacks but if I can kill all 4 of a team in 1 round with a mix of shots and melee attacks why does that make me an unskilled lamer, its getting old. I play for fun and I'll use whatever I want. I can't see the fun in running in every single round with a shotgun and blowing someone away from point blank range, I like to grab a boom shot and get some multi kills or grab a torque for some fun. No one likes dying to a pistol whip or a melee hit but when there is 3 people on 1 and you all die to melee hits you can't say I'm the one lacking skills, maybe you should reassess what exactly happened there.

I have to agree too! I think if you can get close enough to a player to tag them, without getting blown away by the shotgun, you deserve an instant kill!

Actually trying to play my way through the single player mode now, just starting on chapter 4 tonight.

I think if you ran up the map and took on all 4 of them at the same time with a pistol whip, no one would begrudge you. You have a habit of "Disapearing" in matches only to "Reapear" after the rest of your team has died and pick off the remaining baddies individualy. Whether this intentional or not is unclear.

When I have witnessed you using things like the boomshot you miss a lot more than you hit (thus running out of ammo), and even in situations where you have the oppertunity to swap to a ranged weapon you often dont.

In terms of grenade tagging the tagged person at least has the oppertunity to exact revenge on the tagger.

I mean its horses for courses, a lot of us are very competitive (dispite thinking we are not) and do not like losing.
I get wound up every time I die. I whinge about it and try to do better the next round.

The thing that annoys me the most is CAD MAN running. Yes Alrik Gord and I all do it. But we all do it with the aim of drawing a fight. WE regularly stop, change direction or attempt to catch our persuers off guard so that we can get a shot on.

Cad man runs off into the distance and leaves the enemy behind. I mean obviously you are not going to stop running if alrik is just outside tagging range sprinting after you. This is where the rodie run skill comes in. who is the better runner? can I put a lancer distance between me and alrik? can he close the gap and stick an explosive supository up my arse?

I will usually shoot at my opponents for as long as I can until the only options left are blaze of glory or escape. I base my desision on the info at hand. What weapons do they have? who are they? how many of them are there? will they all follow me? is there an escape route?

If I think I can win in my present situation I stay, if its alrik and miss K I run (alrik being capable of killing me by thought, miss K being lethal at close range) I have better chances if I cna sepertate them kill Alrik and then take on miss K in a one on one situation.

But I don't play to get an erection over how good I am, I play for fun so I never claimed I was amazing with the boom or the torque I just stated they were fun. I do enjoy melee attacks and seem to do really well with them, people sometimes die and sometimes they just blow my head clean off with a shotgun. I just hate people crying about it, I never cry when I get tagged or when I get sniped while in a firefight with someone else, so why whinge if I melee :(

I'm not having a go or picking a fight or anything, I'm just telling it how I see it.

You may not be playing fro bragging rights but as you said you are playing for fun and it cant be fun to have 7 people yelling at you and accusing you of getting cheap kills. As I have said, how is it 3 direct shotgun kills do not always result in a fatality but 2 pistol whips do every time? I'm sure if other weapons were as consistant as the fragtag or pistol whip then there would be far less whinging. But the phrase "Dont blaime the player, blaime the game" will not make you any friends. Obviously Im not aking you to handicap yourself but don't forsake using the other weapons for the pistol whip.
 
I play for fun! and the way i saw it last night was that it wasnt the individual that we were getting annoyed at for the pistol whip it was the game itself, tempers were hightened last night and i hope that anyone that wants to play tonight will put this behaid us and start this as a new day.

I can hold my hands up and say i got really narked at gimpy and killswitch for it and i will take the time to say 'sorry', it was just thats the only way i died for 4 hours but i am over it and now like i said its the game rather than the people and i am a fine one to talk as i have host advantage.

I won't be on tonight, however for the record i don't always use Pistol Whip. i use it as much as i use the Shotty/Grenade Tags/Lancer. Why handicap myself by not using a weapon? How is using pistol whip in close range any worse than staying back and using the Sniper. It's fairly easy to stop people legging it up to you if you can blind fire the Shotty. I don't think the pistol whip is any cheaper than grenade tagging, hammer of dawn, boomshot and torque bow. All of which are very easy to get kills with.

Saying people are doing nothing but using pistol whipping is like saying Krono doesn't use anything but the shotgun or alrik doesn't use anything except grenades or gord doesn't use anything but the hammer. People have weapon preferences and stick to what their good at. I'll stick up for Killswitch here, i don't think he was over using Pistol Whip (Maybe he used it more when i was off for an hr or so), seemed to me he used the Locust assault weapon most of all and with a mixture of firing and melee hits from it.
 
I'm gonna go online tonight. fairest thing (reading the posts) is that someone who is not very good hosts. i.e not gord or Kronologic or Sid (I think he hosts sometimes).


If the room is full I'm gonna create my own room. haven't played for at least 1 week and am missing it.

For all the new people who have appeared in this thread recently, please add me to your list.

Sounds like these days there is almost enough interest to have 2 8 player matches running at once.

hopefully no-one will be shouting about hos advantages and cheap kills and what not. I bite back!!!!

I was never really using the pistol last night though, I was using the hammerburst for the most part. I never go out onto the battlefield with the intention of hitting anyone but when the option arises to do so I will obviously do it because I'm good at it and it gets results, just like some people are craskshots with sniper/torque or brutally effective with the shotgun at close range. I like my hammerburst as its effective against the shotgun at medium range and allows you to still have a melee attack when in a fight, the lancer chainsaw isn't as useful in a gun fight.
