Grado SR60i Headphones, any opinions?

Owned a set of sr60i for a while they are nice very very midrange heavy but I think goldring ns1000 are far better overall.

Grado's are also very uncomfortable imo with shoddy build quality on the headband it's basically a thin bit of metal with an unpadded leather surround, the driver housing build quality is fine though.

I'd get ns 1000 over grado sr60i every time cant recommend them enough everyone should own a set of ns1000 I dredd the day they stop making them might actually buy a spare set or two for the future.

As said above the only entry level worth getting are the allesandro imports.

I'll also put a word in for the HD25's. Never heard any of the Grados, but as Ad said, for music production and portability, the HD25's are among the best. Friend of mine has a pair, and they are superb. Uriel mentioned about neutrality, which the Grado's will not have. With music production you want something that will colour the sound as little as possible. Sennheiser HD25's are widely used because they are great for monitoring. :)

OP - have you contacted anyone running the Music Production Course to see what they recommend?

I agree that NS1000s are superb for the money by the way - but like several other headphones mentioned here - are they neutral? I would say that they have quite a lot of treble emphasis with Noise Cancelling on. Maybe with it off and a suitable amp (I'd suggest FiiO e5) they might be (don't use Bass Boost on the FiiO though). With inadequate amping their sound quality really drops off though and I've never really seen a frequency response graph for Goldring Headphones. My own Mackie mixer doesn't really do the job for NS1000s with Noise Cancelling off and it's fine for driving other demanding headphones.
