Gran Turismo "Sport"

Try turning on the brake indicator, then it'll flash up on your screen, everyone drives differently so watching others probably wont help too much

If I followed that I would never get near bronze let alone gold! It's waaaay to cautious. I'm going through campaign to get all gold, it's funny as considering this was supposed to be an 'online' game I have played countless hours of offline!

I get an insight when people start to look at slowing down, braking etc. Thanks milkswitch!

I want to do some practice laps later / over the weekend of the dragon tail for the next race so can upload some my practice.

lol no probs. :p

Do you get anything special for doing the dailies?

Just credits and mileage points, the dailies are pretty much the meat of the game.

Replay was from a couple of days after launch I think, somehow managed to win, felt bad for the Finnish guy who turned into me on the final turn on lap 3. Quite sloppy but will give you some idea Andy. There are people in this thread much faster than me so I'd pay more attention to TSG and the others.

I need some people to upload footage who use the bumper view so I can see when/how you brake

I've driven this track in the tests but I don't think a gr4 so I thought it could be good showing my first 10 laps of the track. It will show you my braking points, where I brake later than the cones and I hope some idea of how I learn and changes lines, where I figure I can brake later etc. Like the turn 2 chicane - I brake at the cones lap 1 and realised it's too early and 2nd gear seems a bit low but lap 2 I go a little deep. From memory I run 3rd gear for a bit too but actually go back to going down to 2nd gear again. I think I mess almost every lap at some point but it is how I leanr quite how hard you can push at a corner. The chicane at the end is hard though to hit just right and it will take many more laps of practice before I'm confident of hitting that sweet spot through there.

For reference I'm using a controller with manual gear, ABS at normal and TCS at level 1.

Thanks @Greboth ! Although the video is unavailable?

I don't know how manage traction control to be at 1, it's literally like I'm racing on ice, what advantage do you have on 1?

Weird, the video uploaded as private for some reason. It should work now :)

It is usually quicker to have it off but I keep it on 1 just a safety net as it helps a little while running over a curb or trying to catch a slide.

Nice one, I'm watching now. First thing I noticed you are way cautious/slower at going round corners which makes sense in terms of me crashing out :p

Do you use the triggers for accelerate/brake, I just don't know how you manage to not slide around when accelerating off a corner.

Yep I use the triggers! Manual gears will help if you give them a go, takes a few laps and then you’ll be wondering how you lived without them! If you’ve go into the assistance settings and turn on the cone markers you’ll have reference points on every corner of where to brake. The double cones are your braking points and then the next cone is your turning point. Might help you out if you haven’t tried them yet. :)

Yeah I've used manual gears, for weeks now, it's the campaign and getting gold I feel I have to go so fast, looking at Greboth's vid although really clean driving I feel like it looks slow driving, I know it isn't but I guess that is my mindset!

Do you use TC 1 too, @K1LLSW1TCH ?

Well you have to go slow enough to actually get around the corner :p As for speed, I’m sure there is a decent amount of time to come off it yet.

Yeah, I use triggers for throttle and brake. For corners about third gear or above you can go full throttle easy. For slow corners you just can’t go full throttle while still turning too much.

@Andybtsn Can you record some gameplay like Greboth has done and upload it? It would make it much easier to look at aspects of your own racing, to see if mistakes are made or things can be changed.

Can you challenge friends to private races? Would be a good way to learn from the better players. Just try to follow them round and observe how they drive.

I had a bash at Dragon Tail last night and this morning in a lobby with BOP on - garethu1986 even joined for a few laps in the lobby earlier.

BOP really affects certain cars and on some tracks worse than others - The Cayman seems to suffer a bit with its long gearing - @ snipergecko. The Lambo I ran at Brands I just can't get on with on this track and at higher speeds just wants to run wide and under steer.

So I've been using the Corvette. Managed to get down to 1.47.15 but I think there's a 1.46 in there to be had. Tips for where I've been finding time; 1st chicane run a lot of curb on the left to get the straightest line through (use 3rd). The 2nd gear right hander before the first checkpoint, running a lot of curb getting close to the wall. The final quick chicane in 5th, this is a tricky one to get spot on and if you get it wrong you pay a high penalty.

I'll probably be on later tonight for a bit more practice if anyone wants to join.

Did an online race the other day at the Nurburgring GP circuit in Impreza's. I was about 8th for the start, and what happened was the front 7 cars did the rolling start as usual, with me and everyone behind me starting on the straight before the last corner. Almost caught the pack ahead, but left me with no chance. :(
