Graphics went to 8 bit, frozen screen, sata ssd not detected

Any idea what the most likely failure is/was ?

Played a game and all of a sudden the graphics went like an old 8 bit game.
After 30 seconds the whole PC froze.
SSD no longer detected during boot.
Swapping sata cables between HHD and SSD solved this.
