Great, if you want HL2 epi 2, you need to buy original and epi 1....

Thats really, really stupid! How many people have bought the retail version of HL2 and E1?

Can you still buy JUST E2 over Steam?

It's gotta be a joke, surely you'll be able to buy Episode 2 seperately... If I can't get Ep2 seperately, I wont get my wallet out - I'll play Episode 2 some other way.

I'm sure they'll sell Ep2 seperately via steam, I really can't see why they would do otherwise - there's gotta be loads of people like me who aren't going to be happy buying HL2 and Ep1 again. It must just be the bundle that they've changed..!

Thing is, with Epi 1, I had to buy a retail copy, since steam won't accept my credit card!

They take PayPal now but anyway..... that sounds like total ****. Unless they keep the price at $39.99 like it was originally going to be, in which case you are getting better value. The Black and Orange Box are not meant to be just for retail, that is just what they are calling the packages. i presume Steam will offer the same choices.

I really can't imagine they will not offer the choice.

i don't believe this until it's posted on valve or steam, at the moment it's just an IGN article quoting another IGN article... and i don't trust IGN anyway.

but if it's true, i won't be getting it, i only want episode 2 and im not guaranteed to sell the other "spare" keys... and i want a box to go with the hl2 + ep1 boxes i have, not a download from steam backed up onto a cd/dvd in a paper wallet with "hl: ep2" scribbled on it with a marker pen. :(

I'll be buying through Steam anyway, so for me, if they keep the original intended price and give me HL2 + Episode 1 again then it is all good. I would rather just pay less than the original intended price and get the 3 mind.
Still as said, it looks like made up rubbish at the moment.

tbh, if ep2 is anything like ep1 then i'm not going to pay more than $20 for the game on any format. Whilst mildly amusing, ep1 was an obviously cheap quickly cobbled together attempt to prolong the life of hl. i'd be happier waiting another 7 years (or however long it was between hl and hl2) for them to realease a 'proper' game which i can enjoy as much as i did whilst playing hl+hl2.

maybe i'm just being an akward **** but i'd rather pay more FOR MORE GAME.

well thats my rant for the day... and relax.

Cant see it being true, didnt they do a promotion with the new ati cards for the black edition ?
Sounds like it'll be just another colour pack to include HL2, there was a few different packs when HL2 was released and no 1's gonna pay money for content theve already bought.

Half Life 2: Episode 2

£26.99 Delivered
RRP: £34.99 | You save: £8.00 (22%)

Pre-order | Due for release on 01/11/2007

£34.99 RRP?
Is that for the Full Orange box?
If that is just for Ep2 + Portal + TF2 then that is a rip off. It is meant to be $39.99 off steam which makes it under £20 with the current exchange rate.

Just seen the report on Kotaku too. The quote might be fake but people are treating it as true. Only for physical retail apparently which is ok for me. Rubbish for others though.

So are you telling me, that if i buy Episode 2, i will also be paying for the original Half Life 2 and Episode 1 that i have already bought. Pathetic

I dont know what that includes but thats the price for the retail package. its no lie or rumour- thats it. the online steam price is sure to be cheaper and will also be helped thanks to the weak dollar. not sure i can be bothered at all as i've recently uninstalled all my steam stuff. i'll wait till some of you guys have played it so you can give me your verdict ;)

Well I like having an actual box when I buy my games, this is does suck! I can only hope its not true.
