Why not Superflower? Well Superflower did have their Amazon range which did fit the bill perfectly, but Superflower have now moved all their efforts into absolutely flagship products only and as such end of lifed the Amazon range.

For the money these are great and they have being built to our own specification provided to Xigmatek so the quality is guaranteed, there are a lot of fake 80+ PSU's on the market where the quality is very poor and we've even read reports of such units setting on fire!

So when it comes to PSU you need to be buying a brand you can trust and OcUK is very happy with these Maverick models we have had Xigmatek make for ourselves, so you can buy in confidence.

But to the person out there saying to us well I can buy a 500W 80+ unit for £20, well we would advice you against it but it is your decision. :)

How would these compare to an 80+ Bronze Corsair CX600? (shhhhhh, I got it reallllllyyyy cheap)

And what is the cabling like? It says black braid in the description, but can you see the multicoloured wires through it easily?

CX psus are supposed to be crap. With superflower PSUs starting at 37 quid or so, can't see why anyone would choose anything else!

Installed one today and yes the LEDs on the modular sockets are a bit bright, but it's clearly a quality unit.

Hence my question, my current one has lasted perfectly for the last 2 years and seems perfectly stable. I've had no complaints, but a modular one would look nicer.

It says low noise, but what's the noise actually like on these? Looking for a (near) silent PSU for a new HTPC build, and had been looking at a 500W BeQuiet! Pure Power. These are a bit cheaper, but how do they compare for the BeQuiet?

Superflower ones have an eco mode which keep the fans off until a certain load level - def worth looking at.

If you go for a higher wattage than you need fans would hardly ever be on!

Yeah, that's true, but I'm trying to balance cost and noise. Plus it's going to be a Kaveri A8 rig, so pretty low power anyway. I did look at Superflower, but the BQ range offered a bit more wattage for the price and they have a good reputation and reviews re noise profile too.

I'm having coil whine /buzzing with my GTX 970. I have a corsair cxm 430m that I am hoping is the cause of it, being a lower end power supply.

I've held off just simply buying other PSUs since the dogma is that I need a quality psu to get rid off the whine, but I'm lost as where to start (don't want to spend a bomb either).

So does anyone think that getting on of these (say the 500w) would solve my problem? Unfortunately I don't have another PSU/rig to test on...

Also.. Man I wish I had free shipping! I keep seeing the odd product I want but the postage keeps biting!

These PSU's are by no means high-end, yes they are good quality but no they are not a high-end unit that will help prevent coil whine. For that you need a very high-end unit with low ripple and that is territory of the Superflower Leadex models.

These are great value, but by no means do we have here a £50 power supply that even comes close to matching a Superflower Gold let alone a Platinum Leadex model.

So I'd say if you have coil whine these units will not help you, the only units with a proven track record of helping to reduce and eliminate coil whine are the Superflower Leadex models because they have industry leading ripple results.

Thanks for your quick response Gibbo, I think I will just grin and bare it for a while before considering my options.

No reviews and they aren't up on any of the psu databases yet so we can't see what they are like or who the OEM is. Xigmatek mainly use Andyson as a oem with a couple of Sirtek and Solytech units also thrown in. They have also used HEC and CWT in the past. Going by the voltage on the 12v rail I wouldn't be surprised if these are HEC units. They are single 12v rail and are capable of the following on the 12v rail:-

400w - 360w
500w - 444w
600w - 540w

Further details can be seen on the product pages at Xigmateks website.

Looks like they correlate with the CWT GPK series of PSUs. I haven't found any Sirtec or HEC units with identical specs that have been registered.

no length measurements on the detail page,
found some on the xigmatek site that pastymuncher linked though
160mm(L) x 150mm(W) x 86mm(H)

These will be a hard sell with the EVGA, Hale and Triathlor units all around the same/higher wattage and similar price range. I know some of the ones I linked are not modular, but if you've got so little to spend on a PSU (one of the most important components of your system!) then modular shouldn't really be included in your product decisions! :p

My money would go to the former 2 with that kind of low budget (have the 1kw Hale here and it's superb).
