As title really, some files I play (think they are all avi files) in wmp come out in a purple and green colour. They play fine in vlc but i would rather use wmp. Could it be a codec issue? Any ideas? Thanks

get windows media player 10

update your graphics card drivers

ffdshow

I have wmp and i like the look of of and would rather not chang if possible.

My graphics card drivers are up to date.

And i don't really like the idea of using ffdshow, seems like a bit too much hassle when i can just use vlc.

Sorry to be picky, but i was hoping for a simpler answer, maybe i'm just too lazy!! Thanks

yes installing ffdshow is a lot of hassle.... double click the setup file, next, next, next, done.....

My brother is having this same problem, a reboot didn't help and installing the CCCP codec pack didn't either.. I upgraded him to WMP11 and that still didn't help, any ideas? ffdshow?

try what i said in my first post, i 'think' this only happens with nvidia cards on certain drivers (not sure tho)

wmp - tools - options -

performance tab

advanced video options

check / uncheck "use high quality mode"

iirc that is :p ... its def a setting in advanced video options tho

and yes, its certain nvidia drivers, but this fixes it ;)
