Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th - 11th January 2015]

I guess the biggest difference this season has everyone but Chelsea and Man City are dropping points. Everton Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal.

It makes United mediocrity seems better than they are.

This 3412 or 3142 rubbish has to go. It clearly doesn't work with one central midfielder or players in wrong positions. The style of play has been turgid for a few weeks as well now. Two flukey away wins is pathetic too.

If we don't make top 4 then I'd want a change of manager. Liverpool and Arsenal, who always get top 4, are improving and Soton are consistent enough to make top 4.

lvg is like a drunk oap

rumours that falcao threw his toys out of the pram too. i suppose any player would if they were ditch for fellaini.

Exactly. There are two good teams in the league this season, plus Saints who are performing way above expectation but would not, at the moment, trouble the European elite . Everyone else is very, very average.

If a foul's been made it should be up to the attacking team to decide how quickly it's taken, not the ref. By playing to the whistle it just gives the opposition time to organise which minimises the advantage in a lot of cases.

Very poor performance from us.

I'll bow to LvG's greater knowledge for the time being but I really don't think 3 at the back is the way to go. A tactical re-think would be a good idea now the vast majority of the squad are fit. We should be able to win most games without too much trouble. Buying a couple of players this window wouldn't go amiss either...

Once Utd have two decent centre half's (and hopefully a good wide player) we can go back to 4-4-2, but with the ch's we have at the moment either in-experience or generally being terrible is probably the reason why Utd need three

How do Man City and Chelsea compare vs last season?

city and chelsea probably doing better or same as last season and thats a good thing as they compteting to win the title .

my point is that LVG has not shown he is leaps and bounds better then moyes so far.

And the saying goes, be careful what you wished for. Moyes should have given another season to prove himself.

If united fail top 4 and finish same points or lower then last season, my point would have been proven and LVG may even get the sack

How many shots on target dod we have last match?

Why when i wrote last week that we've looked awful for ages and 5 at the back doesn't work did i take a load of grief?

What's changed?

You're right. I much preferred Moyes when he talked about trying to play like City and hoping our results got better. How he hoped for some more luck and how he was at a loss to explain what was going wrong. That was some great stuff from a manager who had us playing plain dire football.

LvG also said

Seriously, how can you be such a depressive United fan 100% of the time. When was the last time you enjoyed being a supporter. I can't remember ever seeing your name pop up with anything positive to say about us.

And im a bad fan for stating the obvious?

To be fair you had your best spell once Fellaini came on and you went long ball, which shows how ineffective your midfield is.

Do you believe you should have kept Moyes for another season?

If Moyes had the financial backing that Van Gaal has had would he have more points at this stage of the season?

You're not playing 4-4-2 whilst your current manager is there, every opportunity you have he goes 3 at the back.

Yup he probably would, that would be one year experience of knowing the ins and outs of united and this year would have been the proper test to see if his good or not.

LVG has outspent Moyes but still united play dire football, have questionable tactics and points-wise no better off then Moyes.

edit:Moyes seems to be doing decently at his new club

The same kind of defending that nearly every other team relies on you mean?

Yeah ok

Smalling was appalling yesterday, Pelle should have handed him his shirt at the final whistle shirt pulling is rife but Smalling very nearly had his off several times before corners.

LVG was the most ungracious idiot after the game as well, complaining we came for a draw and got lucky! he had a player in the stands who cost more than our first team damn right we came for a draw but for my money we deserved the win I'd like to see us being more abitious at places like Old Trafford as our first team are good enough to compete with everyone.

Reffing was usual affair for playing Man Utd at home, Pelle didn't get a decision all day and where the 5 minutes injury time came from I've no idea!
