I don't know where him being 'shocking' has come from as he isn't shocking at right back at all, he's standed in fine when needed.

Rafael played the entire Olympics so it's not that far fetched to see him being given a few days extra rest.

Valencia has been played at RB in Pre season a few times due to lack of options at the moment.

We could even see Carrick at CB!

He's looked okay because he can tackle, his positioning is absolutely terrible because guess what, he isn't a defender. It's fine in preseason against a load of crap teams but even then he was responsible for one goal. It won't cut it in proper competitions.

it just seems this defensive crisis happens every season, we clearly don't have enough depth.

Have you seen the times he has cost UTD/Brazil goals? He is a terrible defender. Him and his brother were both wingers before they joined UTD. I don't think they even know they now have to play as full backs.

Valencia isn't exaclty any better. I am worried about our RB spot this season. It needs patched up. I don't trust those Brazilian full backs, not one of them.

The days of Neville/Irwin are never going to come again at UTD. :(

Looking forward to Sunday.
Will be one helluva atmosphere!

I would like to see Rodwell play but with this England friendly he will get one training session if that so I imagine it will just be a sub appearance.

I think this will be our starting XI.

---------Aguero---Tevez----
-------Nasri---Silva---Yaya-----
Clichy-----------------------Milner
-----Kompany-Lescott-Zaba------
-------------Pantilimon----------

Yes I've watched Rafael, I watch near enough every game each season.

And I don't agree with you, so do quite a lot of people who watch the team on a regular basis and don't just jump onto the bandwagons.

And no, they weren't wingers before they joined us.

Yes he had a poor final for Brazil, but for matches before that he was very solid and went well forward too.

People like to cherry pick things out.

The main worry with Fabio/Rafael is actually the fact that they seem to be made of glass, but Rafael has been OK for a few months now.

Rafael really is quite good. He's just young and needs to improve his discipline a bit. He makes poor decisions more often than he should.

Wrong. Wrong and what do you know wrong again :o

Wonder how fit he is, I assume he's playing for Holland tonight? Would feel a lot more confident of starting the season with 3 points had we not *** arsed about and got him signed up weeks ago

No, he isn't on the pitch or bench for the Holland game this evening.

Still wouldn't put it past Fergie throwing him against Everton, obviously not from the start but from the bench maybe
