Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [20 - 26th December 2013]

I've not liked Sherwood since his days as a pundit on Sky and he still comes across as a ****. You've got to be a manager a lot longer than 5 minutes before you're good enough to sit in the stands and manage.

Agreed , comes across as an overconfident **** IMO.

I'm hoping he doesn't get the job on a more permanent basis

Ruined their neighbours? He nearly ruined Southampton too, it was only the fact Southampton found a wealthy buyer that was prepared to invest that saved them after Harry sent them spiralling down the leagues and into administration

This is like the anti AVB performance. No control, no real consideration. Just as direct as possible.

Would really prefer a blend but the everyman Sherwood is intent on currying favour with the support with his interpretation of the "Spurs way"

Yup, that's precisely how I would describe the City and LIverpool games for AVB's spurs.... control.......................

lol; true dat. I meant when Spurs were on "their game". Utterly pants performances are slightly irrelevant to what I was trying to say.

I really wish the coaches would make the players do 100000 shuttle sprints. The players are so lazy moving off the ball; they never try and become options for ball carriers.

100 sessions of coaches screaming "pass and MOOOOOVE"

lamela needs to bulk up but i think he could be very good

You can tell he played in Italy. He can't handle it when everyone doesn't just stand off him and let him run at them!

He is still adapting of course, but the signs don't look great imo

I don't think we can carry he development, but putting him on the "Bale" physical development play certainly wouldn't help. He and Eriksen are so far off the pace it is frightening; I think they will adapt but in the mean time we need some better options. Dembele higher up would be awesome. I dunno where Sandro is, because he would allow that move to be made.

Form, pointless making statements now, form can mean everything. For some players they can always play well, for most players form is crucial. Look at the Newcastle fans on here, baying for blood, 3 games later a complete turn around. Mbiwa was subbed at half time for being so awful, 2 games later he was brilliant. That team needed and finally got 3-4 games with mostly the same players, playing a similar way and they suddenly went from a team of strangers out of form to really pushing for a euro place again.

Lamela has been frozen out, barely played in the league AND the Spurs side are playing a very different set up to how they would have been training since summer. It will take more than one half to get a player to form IN a form team that has trained for a specific tactic/style for ages. I wouldn't judge Lamela or Eriksen for a good 3-4 games at least, and likely Spurs in general. It could easily take a couple of months for the players to improve and gain top form, it could take days/weeks.

For me that first half shows why AVB was the wrong man for the job and his whole approach was wrong.

Players look like they're working hard and trying hard. Even Lamella is getting stuck in!

Adebayor showing more attacking threat than we have done all season. I'm not saying he should be first choice but to be totally frozen out like that was a huge mistake by AVB.

We're looking a bit light in midfield, I think Holtby would be better suited to this game than Erikson but brave line up from Sherwood.
