Given the games the teams around them have over the Christmas period two home wins against Sunderland and Southampton could see them top...
Everton have no doubt benefited from their managerial change in the summer.
Factor in the first few games where they looked a bit, well they were still adapting to actually trying to win games. Didn't realise that as you say, they have a very good next few games to push forwards while Pool, Arsenal have some difficult games coming up.
I said like 3 months ago Everton, City, Chelsea, if we lose tomorrow when we've already looked tired for the past month, we have an in form Newcastle and a physical(yet still rubbish) West Ham to play. Those games off the back of lots of points dropped, maybe dropping the top of the table if we lose tomorrow, those games become tough mentally as well as physically. This was the run that I think was the toughest and most important in the season.
Everton though, they've played just about everyone important, draws or wins, one loss against City and Everton were quite easily the best team to go to the Etihad, took the lead and had a few chances to improve it, then come back, didn't take them but they certainly played well. Played great at Arsenal, beat Utd. They've been scary good, squad depth could be an issue, see who they get in Jan.
I hope Everton fans have got together to sign a monster sized xmas card/thank you note and send it to Fergie/Utd board.
