Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [20 - 26th December 2013]

A game away from the halfway point and 2 points off the top. WTF, some alternate universe I'm in.

Everton for the league, everyone would love to see it happen ;)

For a 20 year old he is just unreal. £27 million for Fellaini, Moyes must be going mad right now.

The sad thing is, Moyes was better placed than anyone else in the entire world to know which player he should be buying and boy did he choose wrong.

Even if they wouldn't have let Barkley go, Fellaini was so the wrong choice and the price makes it even worse. So many better players could have been bought for less than they got Fellaini for.

Utd fans can't be too upset, all they have to keep in mind is Moyes could have bought Anichebe...... :p

Or even Hibbert, had to actually look up if he was still there...... Wiki says he is, is he still a footballer, or the kit man or something now?

Moyes doesn't rate him, that's why he said after the Arsenal game in April or when ever it was that we wouldn't be seeing him properly for another 2 seasons.

It's not as barmy as it sounds. We're both playing very well and don't have the additional European games that City, Arsenal, United, Chelsea and Spurs will have to contend with. Obviously Moyes and Bayern will see United and Arsenal have less games than they might otherwise but we could both benefit massively this season

Exactly and even now other than wages theres no reason for Barkley to move there. If he goes anywhere it will be Man City or Chelsea. United fan want to pray he stays at Everton for a while.

I think he will sign another deal tbh. How long he stays then is just guesswork, same as suarez.

He should stay at Everton and develop more imo. Going to City and Chelsea can destroy a career especially if he goes at such a young age and doesn't get the game time he needs to develop.

Martinez looks like hs is getting the best out of him and he is young enough to have a long career so there is no rush to move for the next 2-3 seasons.

It's not just the results, this Everton side is unrecognisable from a Moyes set up. Of course with moyes we were 'hard to beat' but that's it. This side wants the ball going forward all the time and doesn't try to hand on for 70 minutes at 1-0.

Moyes was always dog **** with strikers but this is a complete change in mentality in such a short time. No of course I don't think we will be near the top 2 in 17 more games but it's nice to just enjoy watching the football your own team are playing for the first time in so many years.

I agree, shame Rodwell didn't get that. Him and Barkley in the same midfield could have been something. :(

When it comes to moving on the higher the wage he's currently on the better the wage when he moves. Suarez can now say "i'm on 200k a week, I want 250 or more" when/if..... when he moves to Real/Bayern, somewhere like that. No reason for Barkley to not sign a new deal and get more cash, it won't really change things for him. Unless Everton suddenly start getting champs league more years than not they'll have a hard time refusing a big deal for him... the Fellaini money probably puts that off a few seasons though.

If Moyes never rated him I don't think the player will be desperate to play under Moyes again, but then I don't think Moyes is going to be there long. City have to think about Yaya long term(he's not that old though), Arsenal could do with a big guy in central mid(bigger guy anyway), a driving force in midfield to replace Lampard in a year or two, certainly possible.

Utd certainly need a player like him but I wouldn't be desperate to move to Utd till you see how they do next season and what manager they get in.

Everton were 500/1 for the title start of season now 25/1....next 3 games will be 3 straight wins probably.

On one hand it seems a remarkable turnaround in style but on the other hand, there's very few Moyes players in your front 6 now. Barkley and Mirallas are the only 2 of your regular front 6 that have played under Moyes and neither have played under him long enough to be ruined.

Just looking at the table and it's ridiculously close at the top. Just 6 points covering the big 7 clubs and any 1 of 5 could realistically be top at the turn of the year.
