Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [28th December 2013 - 1st January 2014]

Lol Sunderland, 17 shots 1 on target.

Shame our (Villa) players can't hit a barn door either though yet all think they're Suarez. Incredibly annoying.

Poor game.

Lord knows why Ameobi started. Even by his own low standards he was poor. Cabaye looked tired from the first minute, as did Tiote.

Debuchy's challenge was an absolute shocker.

Nice 3 points for Arsenal today, despite leaving it a little late.
Hopefully we'll continue 2014 with the most points again :)

Brentford go 3 clear at the top, 12 wins in 13 games, 7 wins in a row, managerial change 4/5 games ago. Tranmere got a player sent off in that game also to make it 10 v 10 and Wolves managed to get the equaliser. 15 point gap to 7th, ridiculously good from them.

We need players in January. There's been rotation but our build up was slower than ever and completely ****e, everyone looked knackered.

I'm just hoping it was a xmas hangover we have looked as bad a couple of times this season so hopefully this is just another hiccup. Like the game against Spurs we looked dreadful.

What happened with the Rotheram match? I see that there was 14 minutes added on at the end but looking through the bbc text no mention of what caused the delay!

Bar Aspas, who looked lost out there, it was a decent performance by everyone and a good win to get us back on track. Only a few more games until Sturridge is back and we could have another forward or 2 by then.

I'm not sure about that. I thought we were pretty crap for the most part and although I agree that we could/should have won by a few more, most of our chances were from individual moments rather than sustained pressure or good football.

There was no control in midfield and our passing in the final third was poor.

Hopefully Sturridge will be back for Stoke next weekend, at least that's what his Uncle thinks.

edit: I'm pretty sure that was our first 2-0 in years too.

Looking forward to the United vs Spurs game. United look like they've got a few plays back and Spurs look like they're sticking with 4-4-2 so I'm expecting goals and hopefully a draw.

Expected that after the run of games, imagine most teams would've looked well off their best today.
