Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [29th Sept - 3rd Oct 2012]

I don't think Spurs will ever win at Old Trafford. We could put the ball in the net 5 times and the ref would still ruin our fun. :(

Not now Rooney is back no

I guess it could be a toss up between him and Cleverley for a spot on the left hand side but for me Kagawa hasn't been all that since signing so probably could do with a stint on the bench

Scoring his own goal, chesting one assist to Rafael last weekend, a couple of other assists - and Kagawa "hasnt been all that" in a league he is just getting to know

surely thats a little harsh?

Admittedly with Rooney back it makes it harder to fit him in, and Im not sure Scholes should start (best midfielder we have, but given the pace and muscle Spurs have, I think Utd Really need young legs who can recover positions more quickly)

I have almost said it a couple of times but wanted to give him a bit longer. He's looked good at times (he takes up good poisitions and clearly has an eye for a pass) but with the space he's had I feel he should have been more effective so far.

Early days though, I'm sure there's more to come.

Looking forward to seeing chelsea's new attack against a decent side in a competition which really matters. There is potential for arsenal to close down the space and frustrate chelsea. A proper test!

I'm not saying we should sell him am I, just that he's not deserving of a place in the team against Spurs. For me Kagawa's best game so far was in Europe and even then he wasn't that good

Should be an interesting game, confidence boosting win for Reading midweek but Cisse in the goals again, interesting! :D

HAWAY THE LADS!!!!!!

I cant see us winning at OT purely because we never seem to perform well there. However, AVB has said he will tell his side to just go out and attack, that could work in our favour because when we have to dig in a defend we look suspect. That said, against United, attacking for 90 minutes could also backfire very badly.

Nice to finally see a Spurs fan finally admit that you never play well at Old Trafford rather than it being an elaborate referee conspiracy.

Praying to god we just dont lose away to Brighton tomorrow after our humiliation at home to Barnsley. Lee Clark losing the fans so soon into the season doesnt look good but I hope he can turn our form round.

i can't believe that was jan 2005!

roy carroll! whatever happened to him

Spurs fans living in the past shocker :D (some of the posts relating to this seem to imply it was like 09/10 season rather than 7 years ago lol)

Daily Fail reporting that Nani has thrown a punch at David Petrucci (young midfielder at the club) after a bad tackle in training. Report goes on to say team mates had to pull them apart in the gym before the situation got worse.

In fairness I'd be ****ed off if I was a starter and some youth player came in with a dangerous tackle potentially injuring me.

edit: please start De Gea :(

Even more so if the tackle was in the gym and not on the pitch :p

The first "team revolts against AVB" story has hit the newspapers, bs maybe, maybe not.

Summing it up, players called a showdown meeting over double training sessions leaving them tired before games and negative tactics. AVB supposedly having a fight with Tim Sherwood, oh and AVB has supposedly made his first arbitrary firing in what would appear to be his "come into a club and randomly fire someone to scare everyone else to fall in line" tactic.... going for a scout rather than a player this time.

Is that your source? Talk about a joke/made up story, not a single quote to be seen :D, if that's the only one Drunkenmaster well it's hardly worth you writing about is it?

It's a joke and a wind up by a typical sun reporter. The journalist is question for that sun report is in this video 1 minute in and is basically making up rubbish about Lloris, AVB dealt with the question well and the journalist had no comeback.

It is a journalistic witch hunt. Pretty much every journalist was best pals with Harry, and they simply want to see AVB fail, all that they have on him now since we have picked up a few points, is the Lloris story. AVB is in a no win situation, he can hardly drop Freidal who has been bang in form, yet it looks bad that he isn't starting the French captain and arguably a top 5 keeper in the world. AVB is getting all the stick from the media and its hardly justified, while Liverpool have just 2 points from 5 games but there is nothing in the media.

Not a single quote to be seen so its instantly untrue? Alex and Anelka being "fired" in much the same way, without a single quote, were both untrue, neither were forced out of the club? Likewise all the stories about players being incredibly unhappy about AVB while at Chelsea, with not a single quote, all completely untrue? Daft tactics, player revolting over it and not a single quote, all untrue?

No quote != untrue , loads of quotes != true. Is it worth me writing about it, yes, following the character and style of management I've seen from AVB to date, a story like this has some credibility purely because I've expected him to do the same at Spurs but the "toned down" version. I saw his entire range of management tactics at Chelsea as a non football player with big little man syndrome trying to instill some fear and respect, and I expected the same but to a lesser degree at Spurs. I also said it might be BS and never claimed any of it as fact.

As for being pals with Harry, no idea what that has to do with anything. The "witch hunt" with AVB started when he got the what is probably highest paid at the time job in English football management off the back of Falcao winning a Euro cup and winning a one horse league. He proceeded to fail pretty spectacularly and managed to do a whole host of really quite ridiculous things in his time there. People are in most part expecting either a complete U-turn on his management style, or a repeat cluster**** at Spurs, Redknapp is neither here nor there in that situation.

It's also not unheard of for the press to ask about a club buying a starting player, a national captain and a guy who cost over 10million who is then not used in the league. In fact I think you'll find the press, fans, pundits and commentators all talking about De Gea all this season as well in almost the same situation in being dropped. Was Redknapp recently fired from Utd as well, do the press all hate Fergie.

Or is the simple explanation that very rarely do people move to a new club for a high fee while they are a captain at international level and started all the games at the old club, and sit on the bench at the new one.... the few times it has happened generally the players aren't very happy.
