Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Dec 2011 - 4th Jan 2012]

That was very poor from Spurs, lacked any urgency to break West Brom down all game, and when we finally did it looked like we could concede at any time. I dont think it helped with Sandro coming off, although Livermoore did well, but when Livermoore went off it looked as if Kranjcar was running on treakle, obviously lacking match fittness.

Bassong doesn't fill me with any confidence but didn't do too bad to be fair, hopefully Dawson will be back soon and King can play the odd game here and there. Poor performance and expensive in terms of injuries, but 3 points is good, cant win pretty every time.

Really? I thought he was very poor. His touch at times was shocking and I know he's never been a workhorse up front but I thought his application was quite bad as well. Kompany was exceptional though, best game I've seen from him this season.

He was up front on his own and isolated for large spells. Whenever we got the ball forward, he won more than his fair share and when supported, brought others into the game.

Our best chances came from his hold up play or knock downs; Downing chance in the first 10 minutes and the Kuyt shot blocked inside the 6 yard box.

He didn't received the service to be an attacking threat in his own right nor is he a player that's going to create something out of nothing for himself.
 
Well, I think I would have been better staying in bed and getting an extra 2 hours sleep as now I have to go to work in an hour. A toothless display by us, the game mirrored last years game at anfield though this time it was us who looked like a team of untalented individuals.

I can't figure out if Carroll was abysmal this morning, or the service was woefully inept making him look terrible?

Hopefully this will give us a good kick up the backside and we can have a stark improvement over the next few games.
 
Henry must be wondering how much money he's going to have to spend if £55 million only gets you Carroll and Downing. Sickening how little you get for your money when buying English goods these days.
 
I haven't enjoyed football in about 6 years. Not even sure why I bother to watch it. Being a Liverpool fan is just depressing.

one could say he was at fault for swansea's equaliser but at 40, i think it's only fair to remember that he's not going to be as quick off his line as others but other than that, he's been pretty solid, not a lot he could do about goals he has conceded and he's made some competent saves and most importantly not spilled them ala gomes would've.

Considering how much our team got stripped under the previous yanks, expecting to spend anything less then City cash is pointless if we want to be really competitive

Pretty sure he has been punished by doing such though, IIRC one of Bayern's goals was a consequence and when Kompany got sent off (cant remember what game it was) it was a result of Hart's mistake
 
Chamberlain would have been a much better bet for Liverpool than Downing. Okay maybe he wouldn't be able to play every game and his games would have to be monitored but at least you'd have a player not only capable to actually doing something but you'd also have a player with genuine potential for the future. Downing will be replaced in a year or two and be a squad player at best imo
