Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [5th - 8th May 2012]

No arsenal players? Wait diaby by any chance:p

Diaby's done a few nasty tackles, can't name a player that hasn't tbh, he doesn't do them ALL the time(though, he also doesn't play much). he shouldn't play football for SO many reasons that aren't being a criminal, generally dispicable person or constantly doing two footed tackles. :(

Wonder how much his next new contract will be worth, 80k a week? :(

As for Gerrard, yes, I can't remember many bad tackles he's done recently, though there is still the odd one, I don't know if he's cheating/diving less lately to be honest, he's just playing a lot less and being a lot less involved when he does. I was mostly commenting on the whole "they should be banned from football" nature of it. Don't get me wrong, I picked a couple liverpool players who do equally bad tackles because a Liverpool fan decide to say why a couple other players shouldn't be allowed to play because of a couple bad tackles, while ignoring their own players who do it.

There are PLENTY of other players who really shouldn't be allowed to play, King, Diouf, Barton, etc, etc.

Thankfully some players grow out of being gob****es, Gerrard did sort of (still can't make my mind up on that Welbeck elbow), RvP did to an extent, was a little runt for a while.

Others don't who are in a league of their own and aim to hurt opposition, Barton, Diouf, de Jong, Essien.

Also you seem to have a hate for Skrtel, I'd like you to point out where he purposely goes out to hurt people, are you talking about the header he went for and kicked Jo in the back? Granted he goes in fast into some crunching tackles, but usually a slide along the ground one footed and never feet up.

Lost count of the amount of times you've posted this bile only for it to be deleted by a DON and be warned not to post it again.

Well, they you don't know how many times its happened then, maybe none ;)

I've never received a warning or a message from a don over it and I don't go back and read old long threads for no reason so have never seen one deleted.

More to the point, its true, they aren't liable, I'm not liable and the evidence is clear as a video that catches the incident. The most ridiculous thing about it was his excuse, a large group of mostly biggish men, surrounding a single guy, sitting on a stool , Gerrard "I hit him cos i felt threatened, init".

As for Skrtel, Purdy yes the main one is Jo, its much worse than the De Jong world cup/Alonso flying kick, largely because its to Jo's back, one of the worst and most blatantly obvious red cards I've seen in the league and not completely sure but don't think he even got a freekick. he elbows people, a LOT, he does hard challenges, no problem with that, but he frequently goes in from behind, does leave legs up, is very happy to knock people down, he's just generally quite unpleasant and the attitude he tends to carry into and throughout games is, angry and that makes most of his worse tackles come across as intentional rather than unlucky.

First one I found

Essien has done a lot of bad tackles, whether that is because he is looking to hurt people I don't know, but he often goes in over the ball to make sure he is 'protected'. Soon after he joined Chelsea I remember him doing Hamann and some Bolton player I think it was?

Probably just as well he was out injured in the first half of the season with the attitude refs were taking towards dangerous tackles, or he'd still be suspended.

I'm not saying it isn't dangerous, jumping in two footed is always asking for trouble, but there are tackles much more likely to cause harm, imagine Essien connecting with Carroll on the other side of the leg with those two feet, multiple leg break, as it was, he jogged off

Obviously momentum plays a part, tackling somebody who is running away from you is less likely to cause injury than two players approaching each other

That isn't trying to protect yourself, nor are this or this.
