Grey screen/tears/artifacts on new MSI 7950

Just popped around a few mates houses with far better set ups than me and guess what instant glitches once this card was put in.
Kinda makes you wonder what the hell they tested but this wasnt my card.
The product GX-148-MS on RMA227160 has been returned to you, this will be sent on a new order with order number 4104666.

Here is the technicians Test Report:

"Graphics Card posts through all outputs with no issues at all, ran the card through Furmark, MSI Kombuster, Resident Evil 5 & Heaven Benchmark and there were no issues, Graphics card working fine, pl"

Not necessarily if its a BGA fault on one of the memory modules, You run it upside down they will have a test rig that will hold it vertically !

Not defending anyone here just stating facts, unfortunate you did not post just the picture first. There are still a few people around here that can help you out but as you witnessed because of all the childish yours is better than mine crap, it's getting thinner

Jakus that still means its faulty yes? Not something I can do anything about?

Oh most defiantly yes !

In simple words a bad solder connection on one of the memory modules may make a good enough connection if the card was not stressed with the weight of the cooler etc (as it is when mounted in Your pc).....like when they tested it

lol perhaps i should play with my case upside down (if only I hadn't boxed it already lol)

:D

As a side note, knowing how delicate and miniaturised these cards have got, it scares the life out of me the way they hang these massive "Unsupported" coolers off the Cards...amazing any off them seem to last at all !

Sent my 7870 which is having the same issues back yesterday. I tested mine in 2 different machines and the problems were essentially the same in both.

I noticed on my 64-bit win7 machine the crashes were more severe, but the grey screen kept happening. I couldn't complete a heaven benchmark without it crashing and even while it was running there were artefacts.

I just hope they don't send it back saying it's fine. Tested mine both upright and sideways, so hopefully I won't be getting it back :/

got a rma but i have been warned they will do the same tests it passed last time and charge me if it passes. was told it could be a issue between my mb gpu and monitor. really worried now because if it passes i will have wasted £230 on something that doesn't work. none of my mates will buy it as fails in theirs, mind they all have msi motherboards. This is actually making me feel ill with worry.

Am in the same position tbh.. I'm pretty worried it's gonna come back as passing. I wanted to just send it back for a refund within the 14 days originally, but they refused since I'd already put the game codes into steam. Didn't even want the bloody games in the first place!

Did yours show any strange behaviour in bios?

Exactly what was happening with mine. Sometimes it'd go away - normally if I reseated it or power cycled a few times.. then it'd come back - usually after a crash in windows.

I also tried it in Linux and it'd crash. As soon as I put my 8800 GTX back in, everything was fine.

Very odd behaviour! Good luck with yours too :)

Any news back from OCUK yet OP? I do hope you get it sorted.
I had problems with mine, however it would run some things perfectly.
