Grippy roof solution for cat

We have a cat that goes out the window and down a tree to leave the house. If he goes down the stairs, other other much bigger cat demolishes him.

This was fine until recently, because there was lots of moss on the roof before. The cat had something to grip onto and it was a doddle. But over time this moss has worn away and its slippery now.

Any ideas on what I could put on the sloping roof that would provide good grip for our poor moggy?

Thanks,

Jon

You should dip your cat's feet in tar and then sand. Then everything is grippy. Or just do that to your roof. A house I lived in had this weird sandpaper type covering on it (in the US not sure if they do it here) so must be available somewhere.

He is increasingly tentative when he goes out the window now. He also slips as he goes down. He doesn't like it. Before, we went down no problem because loads of moss gave excellent grip for him.

I've thought of some kind of trellis or something or mess. I'm just not sure what to use. Been looking online but haven't come up with a solution yet, so thought I would tap into the minds of others for better insight.

Could you attach some roof felt? IE the stuff usually used on flat roofs? That's normally fairly coarse/grippy.

I know exactly what you want but I can't seem to find what it's called

It's a bitumen sheet with stone chippings on one side.

Bitumen roofing felt?

It's basically a waterproof cover for flat roofs, but it's really grippy.
Failing that you could buy some strips of antislip tape.

Edit: Yeah what Alx said..

A thin strip of rubber should do and would last for years, not sure where you would get some though.
