Quick question for y'all.

Are there any sites that do similar to imageshack and photobucket that allow you to have your own gallery, but that you can allow access to a group of people?

Basically a friend of mine got married recently and I want to have some kind of webspace where all the different people who took photo's can upload them, so that they have all their wedding photo's in one place.

I was gonna host it on my own webspace, but in extimation there were about 2000 photo's taken by all the different guests and that would just hose my bandwidth.

why dont you just buy some web space and the use the lite version of subdreamer??
This has an intergated image library and you can seet permissions up on it as well, its also easy to use and install

Stelly did you read my original post at all?

I have webspace and lots of it, however there were over 150 people at this wedding and well in excess of 2000 photo's taken, so imagine the badwidth consumption if they all want to upload their photo's and download everyone else's photo's.

So again does anyone know of any group photo websites?

suppose I could use photobucket that way Wyrel, is not the worst idea ever :)

How long will the site need to be up for?

If not too long, maybe a virtual server with adequate disk space to host all the pics, and a bandwith allocation where the amount is unlimited, but the speed curtailed.

I mean, most hosts offer limited amounts of bandwidth at "full" speed, but some reverse that calculation, and offer "unlimited" amounts of bandwidth at throttled speeds, so that the max speed allowed x hours in a day still provides for an effective cap.

You won't (that I'm aware of) get this free, but for £20/month or so .....

Anyway, it's just a thought.

I am also looking for something similar.

I think FlickR is good but if you upload a large photo it gets scaled down to a smaller resolution and I don't think that it is possible to get the original sized photo back or even to view it online.

Photobucket allows you to set an album so it allows visitors, you don't have to give out the login details. (go inot Account options and select the Make Public option).

It is. Theres an "Other sizes" button or something above each image.

I don't think that it gives you the option for the original resolution image. I usually upload images from my camera that are 2500x1900 or so. The largest resolution that I can view is much less than that.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get access to the original resolution images through the pro account?

Random example

It might depend on the license the user has set for their photos. But you can download the original. It is a feature.

Cheers.

In my normal account I don't get the option for the original sized image. I just came across a work around for it. If another image size is selected, i.e. medium, then copy the link to the image and change the 'm' to an 'o' in the link. This gives access to the original sized image. :D

You could sign up for 100 accounts on my uploader, but you do run the risk thatI *just might* notice :D

I'd go for Flickr - it rocks for easy photo sharing :)
