GS5 to launch in January

Wouldn't mind a Google Play Edition, but I suppose I can just ROM it anyway. I've enjoyed my Nexus 5 for a few months but the battery's just not that great, so I am slightly tempted by this (or maybe the Z2 but I like the fingerprint scanner).

Why are people suprised about the size of the rom? It was going to be bigger than the s4 roms wasnt it? It'd be a suprise if it wasnt!

32gb really need to be standard for a phone selling at £500, games, 1080p content all take up huge amounts of storage.

Media can go on an external card. Only games will cauae a problem, same as the s4.

It is a meh phone. Very interested in that camera though, want to see how that performs.

Its surprising because you have to ask how is much of that total and utter bloat and why on earth Samsung would continue to include several gb's worth of Samsung apps that you can't remove and nobody uses ever.

If they've sorted the tiny amount of lag when opening apps etc I'll have one, if not I'll go for the 5s. Went to look at a S4 and side by side the S4 takes a second longer to open apps/messages/mail etc than my iPhone and I just couldn't deal with a step backwards in that sense.

The Note 3 has zero lag - so this running KitKat and S800/801 will be just as good or better.

I agree, the S4 was a tad hesitant.

The Z2 is nice but the only thing putting me of is its size, its bloody massive. I'd rather just get a note 3.

Yeah, the size puts it in direct competition with the Note 3. The Z2 is pretty much a phablet!

Sure, the Note 3 is slightly wider but you get an extra half an inch worth of screen.

The home button delay can also create the impression of slight lag when zipping around the phone, but that's easy to disable.

This is fairly disappointing for obvious reasons and while the Z2 delivers technically, its just past the size point I prefer in handsets.

Time to step up HTC. The opponents are giving you a great opportunity for you to launch a comeback at least.
