With most GT games the auto box changes up too soon and changes down too late, I don't know how it is with GT5Depends, I used paddles on a wheel, so got used to manual, and now I can do it really well on a pad. Its more a case of getting to know when to change gears well and then bang you can do it on anything.
Also it's really pronounced on Forza as with manual on some cars you can go way into the redline zone! SO def faster
