I was using one of those for Skyrim and it worked great. Also you can play with sliders instead of tweaking with a text file.

Although having said that - there is an ENB Customizer that also offers sliders and lets you save presets that I use on Skyrim. Hmmm Im gonna see if it works in GTAIV!

This FXAA has worked on GTA 4, just not far in the distance, its still aliased to hell. I think though, that might be because I have view distance quite low.
 
They did some extra work yeah, and for 2008 it was impressiveish, but all they really did was add in some support for PC features and smashed the resolution up. The decent rig comment I wouldn't agree with, though, you need a lot better than what a game of GTA's quality should take to run it without stutters. My rig for example is a 6850 1GB w/ FX-4100 @ 3.6Ghz, from what I've read my hardware is all in harmony with one another (lol) and push on another perfectly, so I'm running a pretty solid 1GB rig all around, the king of thing you'd of had to pay over £1,000 for in 2008. Infact the best card in 08 was a Nvidia 512MB, so to get the kind of performance we all get now would have been next to impossible in the year it was actually released.

The games unoptimized to ****, and is one of the worst ports going, but the game's core mechanics are so ****ing good, that I don't care, especially now AMD have fixed Rockstar's **** ups, and improved overall performance tenfold.

Ive tweaked that enb config a bit, reduced glare just a bit and adjusted some other stuff. I dont know if you'll even notice a difference but here it is! Backup the enbseries config file, make a copy of it, open in notepad and replace everything inside with this:

It really is not that bad, my son runs it @ 1280x1024 with an old AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz Socket AM2 CPU and OcUK GeForce GT 520 2048MB GDDR3 Low Profile PCI-Express Graphics Card. Everything on low of course but runs just fine.

Your son can only just run it on a powerful graphics card with an aged, but still decent processor, at a crazily small resolution on the lowest graphical settings, yet its not that bad? :p

C'mon mate... I love the game but it was ported using a potato.

Powerful? Its like a £30 GPU :p probs looks and runs better then the 360 on low as well :)

No need to uninstall...just replace the enbseries file with another one. Also there is this BRILLIANT little app that lets you mess with the ENB settings using sliders! And it doesnt end there - you can save each adjustment you make as many times as you want.

Ive only tried it in Skyrim and this weekend Im gonna chuck it into GTA IV. Its called ENB Customizer and its creator needs a medal as it removes 90% of the donkey work if you want to tweak a lot :D

Also I'm using IceEnhancer so i'd have to uninstall it cause its called 'iceconfig.cfg' :( So got to figure out how cause I tried copying the code and it just made the game look terrible haha

Ohh yea I guess not all the mods use the enbseries text file! Bummer...but theres LOADS of configs out there. It might take a little time but you'll find one that works.

I was all over the place for about 2hrs or so before I settled on GioNights ENB config.

Yea, definetly grab Better City Textures!! It makes a MASSIVE difference. Its also a huge download - approx 7.5 giga :eek: But so worth it. Fire up your Free Download Manager and go to bed :D

@ stooeh - whoa that FXAA works brilliantly. I used to use FXAA Injector in Skyrim but never tried it in GTA IV yet! Really smooths out the jaggies!
