Im considering ditching my current sli gtx 275's (while theyre still worth a bit), and moving to a single gtx 470, may add a second later when prices drop or go second hand. Would an 850w psu be sufficient, (corsair hx 850), rest of spec is.

i7 920 @4ghz
asus p6t deluxe v2
6gb ram
blu ray drive
fan controller, (6 fans)
3 x 7200 rpm hdd's
Xonar pcie soundcard.

Gaming res of 1920x1200.

That psu i sold you will be dandy for a 470 or a 470 sli setup:),one of the best you can buy.

Im sure ive read somewhere that the corsair hx 850 can use upto 900W if 850W is pushed!

I'm going to play devils advocate here and say that it's not enough for 470SLI, especially when you overclock. I hosed a P6TD-Deluxe motherboard and Coolermaster CM 850w PSU by asking too much of them. The 24pin ATX connector melted into the socket. I kept getting reboots, black screens etc and couldn't pin it down until I stripped the PC down.

Notice the burnt pins? Overloading the PSU with high end Multi GPU's is a common cause of this issue apparently. One new mobo and PSU later and i'm wiser and poorer, I went for an Enermax Evo 1250 as a replacement and it's been flawless.

Well im running
i7 920 Do @ 4ghz
2 x 470 sc videocards
DVD writer
fan controller
8 x 120mm fans
ssd

And all my volts across the line are rock solid, ive even had the psu in a old pc which the videocard took out the motherboard and hard drives and the corsair HX 850 started up first time in my new build.

Just found this program eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite v2.5 and with my watercooling pumps inc it says i need a higher than 667 watts :)
