GTX 480 second hand, yes / no?

It's loud! It has nothing to do with me not knowing what i'm doing. My pc is silent (Be Quiet PSU, H70 with Sharkoon Silent Eagles, SSD and a Samsung F3 1TB which switches off when not in use which is mostly as it's for backup). The fact you have your GTX in your 480 show's it your pride and joy and that you maybe just a little biased? :P And I run it with the side panel on I was only saying that a good airflow case won't matter everyone has good airlow these days the card is loud and hot and if you get one then you know what you're getting into.

I know how to cool and tame the 480 beast. Very surprising you went for a 480 and expected the fans to never spin up, seem like you require complete silence form an enthusiast GPU, never gonna happen with a 480 and low speed fan setup in your case. Even with same side panel off the card is still enclosed in a small case with poor airflow directed at the card.

I think we'll agree to disagree on this one. And I went for it due to the price I got it at (£175). And the fact you say you have to know to 'cool and tame the 480 beast' tell's me a whole lot. Once I upgrade my motherboard i'll be sure to get a Zalman or something then i'd be a happy boy.

Ive just got one 480 and its a cracking piece of kit, so much so im buying another one on Thursday for sli. You got to love it when new tech comes out and the prices of older stuff drops dramatically.

Obviously they do carry a certain amount of issues ala heat and noise but as raven says its part of the package.

Quality cards and mine will be even better/faster when I put them under water this weekend. Then my noise and heat problems disappear.

I would say go for it mate you wont be disapointed.

I just got a GTX480 for £175! But even i'm not sure how long i'll keep it as it runs soo hot/loud and uses a lot of power so I wasn't prepared to pay anymore certainly not £215. Not really that desirable I think a lot will sell cheap especially with the GTX560 around and maybe some price drops.

They are £194 new on overclockers now!
