GTX 660TI review

Not ready though is it?
But still...if AMD's 7950/7970 was like hugely faster than GTX580 at launch, then it would have at least forced Nvidia to release GTX670 and GTX680 that's faster that's what's released on the market. The problem was despite 7970 was no doubt faster than GTX580...rather than being faster for new gen at the same price level as the GTX580, the 7970 was priced higher than the GTX580 as if it was launched at the same time as the GTX580...depsite it was released a whole year later.

How do you guys figure nvidia will raise the price of the 670 when the 660 is released? It all depends on what ratio of chips are binned at a certain level IMO, the 660 chips will be lower binned and probably the ones not suitable for the 670.

I think within a month the 660 price will drop below a 7950. Most people will realise that after an easy over clock, the 7950 will perform better than a 660 and have more vram and per from better with AA. It may perform similar to a 7950 out of the box but when both are over clocked the 7950 will win comfortably, I suspect the 660 will just edge an over clocked 7870 so that's where I think the 660 price will settle.

Still no sign of the gk106 which is supposed to compete in the mid range

Then one just gets a 670

33 quid difference Yeah RIGHT:o

Who in their right mind cannot afford 33 quid more when spanking nearly 300 on a GFX card :p

If the GTX 660 does come in @ 250 its a pointless card lol 670's can be bought for 289 everywhere

I can see Nvidia bumping 670 prices up. £320 min.

Yea...so there's probably no better time to get a GTX670 than now.

I couldn't agree more.

Well, when GTX560Ti 448 cores was released last gen, it did somewhat made GTX570 from £240 went back up to £260~£270...

don't forget this is release day pricing all over again - it'll drop £30+ over the first couple of months, I predict that 660ti's will be generally available for around £200 by the end of sept

historically nvidia cards are always a little more expensive stock for stock than AMD cards, usually because they are a bit faster

I don't know why people are assuming that pricing will be based on overclocked performance though - it never is as most of the market, particularly for mid range cards like the 660, don't overclock

if it were then 670, 7970 and 680 would all be much closer in price as they perform so close when all fully overclocked

So when are we going to see a new midrange card from NV?

Around 250 quid is not mid range in my book.
Yea...Nvidia is a fool for leaving the sub-£200 price range for that long, as they would be losing tonnes of sales to AMD's 7850. But the again, it's probably due to them push the mid-high range cards up to become high-end cards...so they probably don't care much about losing much sales on the sub-£200, since they are probably making a huge profit selling the mid-high range cards as flagship cards.

'GeForce GTX 650 Ti Specifications Detailed

A little earlier this week, specifications of NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 650 graphics processor were reported. An even newer report by DonanimHaber details its sibling, the GeForce GTX 650 Ti, designed for the sub-$250 market. The new GPU is based on the NVIDIA's newest GK106 silicon, while the GTX 650 sticks to the GK107, and is essentially a beefed-up GeForce GT 640. These are the specifications of the GeForce GTX 650 Ti we're looking at:
28 nm GK106 silicon
960 CUDA cores
192-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface
1 GB and 2 GB memory options
Q4-2012 launch'

Wasn't the entire point of this card supposed to be "priced like a 7850/7870, performs like a 7950/7970"? :S

what the...? whoever said that?

I've always seen 660ti pegged as 580 performance for £200
now that it looks like it stands toe to toe with a 7950 it's being priced accordingly, hardly surprising

it's faster so it's being released at a higher price - the same price or even slightly below the AMD card that it competes against...

if you don't like the price, don't buy one! haha

I can't link the article as its on a competitors site, but 580 performance for £200 is ~ the same as saying 7950 performance for the price of a 7850.

it's not the same, 7950/660ti is faster than 580 and 7850's are like £170~ not £200+

Lets wait for some decent reviews before we say how it performs. These benchmarks look like they have been picked by Nvidia themselves, and the 79xx cards were benched using 3 month old drivers

I think with unbiased benching these cards will sit between a 7870 and a 7950 (at least untill AA is appled).

7950 is faster than 580 depending on the game but its not a big difference hence my use of "~", 7850's are mostly £190-£200 with one down to £185, but they were all around the £200 mark when the comparison was originally made.

erm, all I said was that it's faster than a 580... how is that biased?
it's quite funny that a site that is on nvidia's **** list and begs/borrows/steals cards to circumvent any NDA's gets accused of bias toward nvidia

they have heaven in their as well which is quite heavily leans toward AMD so it's pretty easy to see between them where it's going to come out
