I've read some reports on here about a possible custom bios that enables higher voltages and power limits. So I delved into it a little bit and sure enough there is a way to do so. Before anyone says anything I haven't yet got my Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 and am unlikely to do any bios modding until much later down the line if it's actually needed.

Just flashed my 2 x Gigabyte G1 GTX970's with the no limit bios. Just did some preliminary test and must say I'm really impressed with it all so far.

Pre-bios flash i could never go above 1550mhz core, now with the consistent 1.275 voltage i breeze through 1580/4000 with the power only reaching 80%.

Ran a bench with Unigene Valley on HD preset and got a average fps of 112 which is a 11% gain from the stock g1 boost clocks.

You need to adjust the power sent to the card too otherwise it will still throttle back.

My MSI card with the custom bios, no clock adjustments, will boost to 1550 automatically and it will run BF4 with 1600 core and 8200 memory

Love this card.

Have tried both the gamestable and v7 no limits but the card still throttled with them, so made my own

What adjustments did you make?

As I said, you only gain 30-50Mhz extra on average.

What you do gain is more consistent and stable boost clcoks which might be worth an extra frame or two.

Not worth it? Always worth it :D

Some have gone from 1500mhz - 1600mhz, which does interest me, although I agree not everyone well get that

Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 55-58C

I had a driver stopped responding at 1540MHZ Core, any higher and wouldn't run any games. Now using Custom Bios ( Game Stable ) as I want to be safe and look after my card and now boosting

1569 core, completely stable :D Even upped the ram clocks too :)

1. Unpack both zips to the same folder.
2. Right click "Computer" and to go Manage. Computer Manager opens.
3. Click Device Manager
4. Expand Display Adapters
5. Right click your GTX980/970 and Disable it(all of them if you have more than one).
6. Start -> run -> cmd (must be administrative, or you must have UAC disabled)
7. Navigate to your nvflash folder: cd\folder\path\here\
8. -
9. If you need a PCI DeviceID Override, add -6 after nvflash and before your filename.
nvflash -6 BIOSNAME.rom
10. Re-enable Display Adapter
11. Reset MSI AB clocks
12. Uninstall drivers with DDU
13. Reboot, reinstall drivers

Any luck with that lot?

Ive got nvflash in the C drive so what do I type in the cmd prompt exactly?

If I just type in C:\nvflash it still just quits on me if I try to use it.

Start -> run -> cmd (must be administrative, or you must have UAC disabled)

Then do visit your download directory which may be CD C:\

Then type

nvflash.exe -6 BIOSNAME.rom ( Pick the gamestable bios to be safe & reset MSI AB clocks )

Make sure to disable the display driver in hardware control panel before hand

Currently running at 1569 core here on my Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 , will bump it up to 1600 over the next few days while I game stable test rather than benchmarks :)

Same volts as Locky, however true voltage is actually 1.3V measured at back of card according to bios creators

Default clocks :

Overclocked : 1500/1800

Custom Game Stable Bios : 1588/2000

Biggest raise is from default - overclocked

2-3fps can make a difference with VSYNC and 60HZ->60FPS games :)
