GTX470, tell me I've bought the right card

Can anyone confirm what brands are the OcUK GTX470? Inno3D and Sparkle?

I would also like to know this, was wondering if there would be any differences in overclock abilities depending on brand? Or are all GTX 470's the same?

Bought one anyway to replace my 9800 GT, even if the overclocks aren't as great, the price was just too irresistable! :)

Could be any of those brands - but so far all the OcUK GTX470 myself or anyone else I know have bought have been POV cards.

Hi 3dcandy, it's not that I don't agree with all of the above but I just don't see that has anything to do with the consumer! If NVIDIA or AMD or any company for that matter want to sell me something at cost or at a loss I don't care really. From a cost perspective sure the additional electric does come into it with the GF100 chips but to what degree I don't know.

If the heat and noise are within reason I could live with it, personally I run crossfired 4850s and they server me very well and I think AMD have once again released fantastic perf/mm, perf/watt cards that will surely put pressure on NVIDIA, we've seen this already with the price drops, but those 470s at these prices are looking like excellent buys...

it's basically a win/win for consumers today, and I like that a lot,

regards,
J.

It has lots to do with the consumer if NV are making losses and can't keep up r&d. granted if performance is your only issue then 470 it is. Bear in mind, you wouldn't be saying buy a 470 if it was still £220 and the 6870 is £190 with as much conviction. It's quite simple, the launch of the new 6xxx's has made NV reduce the price to compete, they won't make as much money as AMD per card, and this *could* cause problems in the future for them...
This is all speculation though really, just I don't agree that it hasn't made life a lot easier for consumers, and AMD's cards don't bring benefits to the table. The reviews are generally positive, and most are saying that either would be a decent buy. Take your pick boys and gals!

The OCUK one I got today was POV, Point of View one.

All 470's are usually the same unless some specific manufacturer changed some part.

You made a great choice at that price, been more than happy with my 2x460s

If the 6870 overclocked better maybe it would put up a better fight, but the 470 once overclocked should be great :)

I think the 6870 suffer similiar issue as the 5870...overclocking it doesn't provide much real-world performance gain...same can be said for 5770. Performance gain on overclocking on 5850 and 6850 are however much more noticable...probably because of the bigger overclock headroom.
