More from charlie. A very interesting read.

http://semiaccurate.com/2012/02/01/physics-hardware-makes-keplergk104-fast/

So basically if the games you are playing have the physx api written into the game code these keplar cards are gonna be super fast. The mid-high range gk104 will be faster than a 7970 in these games. If the game does not have the physx api in the game code then the gk104 will be slower than the mid range pitcairn gpu's from amd. So it stands to reason the highend will also suffer like this game to game.

Yeah it basically says GK104 will be slow unless using Physx.

Isn't that how its always been?

The way i read it is, the game does not need to be a physx game like batman where you have the option to turn physx on and off. The game just needs the physx api written into the game code. It would be totally useless if it was just for physx enabled games as there is not many of them. It seems from this that any game that nvidia has been involved with may have the physx api written into the game so these new keplar cards can run it mega fast.

Why would cpu physx run faster on Nvidia's cards, unless they are just deliberately nerfing?

Which is quite worrying when you consider that it's pretty much been confirmed that the Xbox '720' is going to use an AMD 6000 series GPU.

Meaning Physx still won't be a household name.

*sigh*

Seriously, conjecture like this is pointless. The cards will be good, or they will be bad. We won't find out until reviews.

The internet wouldn't be very entertaining without uneducated opinions & pointless conjecture now would it.

Besides I don't see any harm in indulging in some sporadic light trolling whilst Intel & nvidia get thier **** together.

What else is a guy to do with no PC, a pile of cash to invest & an Android smart phone. :)

Also I've always had NVIDIA cards since the GForce 2 MX 32mb series & would have never considered getting a Radeon but the HD7970 sounds really good it'd just be nice to have a new NVIDIA card to compare it with.
