Ok, maybe they just didn't tell any jokes in his presence in the first film because I don't recall any absurd over the top laughter from him in the first film.

not sure that detracts from the film? like others said first half was better than the second, not sure I really liked the "story" but overall its an entertaining film (I liked it more the 2nd time I watched it)

Watched this last night.

Drax needs to be toned down or killed off. Just no need for such a character.

i certainly think they need to tone him down.
Vol 2 was enjoyable but it really tried too hard and there was too much humour.
Some of it felt downright nasty - i actually felt sorry for mantis by the end.

It wasn't that he didn't get jokes, his people didn't understand metaphors.
Wait, I've just been thinking about this. In volume 2 he says he has "famously huge turds". Now I can only assume that he's speaking metaphorically, because if he's speaking literally then his people have bigger problems than not understanding metaphors.

I thought it had some good parts but felt a bit too long and forced in a lot of places. It wasn't bad exactly but just some of the novelty wore off as they played up most characters defining attributes too much (Drax especially) and just felt the main plot of Peter was too drawn out.
