I'm actually finding the 304.79 are better performance wise than the 306.02, GW2 doesn't even allow your overclock to take effect either wow this game is poorly optimised.

Or possibly even your system, ive not heard of anyone else who cant overclock as normal :rolleyes:

I also play the game smite a MOBA I turn V sync off to try and get constant 150 fps but when it gets intense with all the spells going off I drop into the 40-50's and my gpu usage doesn't increase to keep the FPS Nvidia has been a bad move for me really.

It is actually the game though in this case. The engine doesn't stress the graphics cards properly.

A 670 (and indeed a 680 SLI set up :D) are massive overkill for a game like GW2.

Mine can pump out 120 FPS easily in places and the GPU is clocked at around 1000 Mhz. This is the boost mechanism downclocking.

However, it also downclocks when it needs to run faster sometimes and that is irritating. It's an issue between the game engine and the boost only.
 
But the game is running at say 40 FPS with 50 percent GPU why doesn't the GPU just go to 100 percent and give me the highest FPS.
 
As people said try the 306.02 betas, turn shadows down a bit they will eat fps up and also if you in an area with a not of npcs your fps drops no matter your card/cpu.

Usually means the bottleneck is somewhere else or driver/software issue. Games can often make poor use of the CPU or GPU and get poor performance while not overly working the hardware or it could be the boost not working properly on the GPU. If your running vsync on it might be due to the way vsync works and dropping up and down in steps when it can't hit 60fps.

Because as I say, the game engine isn't stressing the GPU's correctly and/or it's CPU bottlenecked.

Turn shadows on Low. This helps a lot.

Nvidia has been a bad move for me really.

Didn't Tommybhoy point out that you had loads of issues with AMD as well?

The grass is always greener when you're having issues I'm afraid. In this case the inital issue was the performance in GW2 was way down on nVidia cards. The latest beta's have resolved that.

As mentioned the FPS drops/GPU utilisation issues are to do with the game engine.

ok I've done some testing earlier. On 1920 res I lowered the settings to lowest, and the overall CPU usage on my overclocked i5 2500K was around 70% and NEVER exceeded 75%, so I'm guess that confirmed my guess that the game doesn't use 4 cores or more (run in 3 threads or less). And when put settings to max, for some reason the CPU usage is even lower, and it hovering between something like 45%-60%.

So there's definitely room for improvement on performance on the game's side, but of course if there something that AMD and Nvidia can do to help, it is always welcomed.
