Gush of air from fuel tank

Because there will be a way to let air in surely. Otherwise there is no way the fuel pump could function. Try pumping 50L of water out of a fixed airtight box and see how far you get before the tank collapses or you can't pump anymore.

The fuel cap breather can get blocked.

I once got my Capri 3.0s towed all the way back from Shrewsbury to Peterborough (by a 1.3 Astra). I took the engine to bits thinking I'd stripped some teeth off the front fibre cam wheel only to find nothing wrong... Took ages to suss it.

Took the fuel cap off and heard "smoooof" of air .

Car fired up no probs !!

Also had a reefer pack up with the same issue ( I was the wise one this time !!)

Our truck fuel tanks make a heck of a bang when we release the fuel cap too. 280 litres of fuel being removed tends to make a vacuum.

My 306 did it, 106 doesn't. It's only the petrol vapour puffing up surely, 5l petrol cans do it loads to the point where you have to leave them a tiny bit open if they're in the boot on a hot day.

True, Do you get freezer reefers and fridge reefers? (guess so)
Need to make a seperate thread, always loved the hidden tech in those, and a fair bit of $$$ in the maintenance/repair aspect, kinda fun work too!
