So, i'm driving to work this morning and as i come off the motorway and ascend up the slip road towards the roundabout, the lady in front decides to brake on a amber traffic light, i try to brake in time, but it's too late. I go into the back of her

I guess the insurance company will see it as my fault, even though she said it was bright and hard to make out what the traffic signal was but she still panicked and broke on a ****'n amber

Someone driving in front of you could slam on at any time not just at lights, and you should have enough distance to also stop safely.

Sounds like you were up her chuff trying to sneak through on amber before it turned red.

You are at fault and will be found as such by the insurance company.

Take a lesson from this and leave a sensible gap between yourself and the car in front.

Yes but she was moving, we easily would have made it, half her car was OVER the line but she panicked and broke. I had no chance.

Hang on a sec guys, if this is the case it is kinda of unfair. You cant just progress over a line to all of sudden act erractically and brake when you have alreay decided to make progress?

Admitedly there isn't anything you can do OP, at the end of the day it is your fault but the women infront should have decided to brake before she got half way over the line and there must have been some speed involved to crash, that or your brakes are total ****.

You have my sympathy at these times you just want to be able to rewind and do things differently. It sucks.

Key thing is that it is just metal (and money) and no-one was hurt. Learn from it and work out how you could have driven differently and avoided the accident.

The OP needs to be ready for the unexpected, he wasn't alas.

Yes.

I know you should always be preparing for the worst, even like in this situation, someone drastically changes their decision.

I wasn't going too quick, i had literally just come off the motorway and was slowing down.

Why can't you? What if the woman had been going through a green when someone stepped out in front of her car and she had to jam on the anchors? OP would have merrily ploughed into her because she 'drastically changed her decision'.
