I forgot to post the obligatory "Interview tomorrow omg!!" thread hehe... but yeah I had an interview today... went REALLY well...

I'm a recent geology graduate going for petroleum geology stuff in Aberdeen...

The guy just genuinely loved me and my CV and was very impressed, we had a very informal chat about the company and me, etc He was particularly pelased with my extensive past work experience (ASDA, gap year IT job, etc)... then I met their geologists and they gave me a mini grilling which went brilliantly indeed... Looks a great place to work (I won't say where until I hear back)...

Going to New York for a week and get back 2nd July so should hear back about it in the first 2 weeks of July! Wish me luck!

Nice goin Docaroo!

Anyway, i've been looking at Geological orientated courses at Uni for the last few months and was wondering if you could give me any advise?

What course did you do at Aberdeen, pure geology or a varied course?

I am currently studying Geology,Maths,Physics and Biology at A2 now. :D

It's nice to see a Geography graduate that's actually interested in Geography. From past experience most Geography students seem to say "Well, I duno what to do with my life....I think I'll just take Geography at Uni, for the sake of it".

He's doing geology...

I did geography. I did it because its an interesting subject, rather than a career choice.

Now Im stuck in Finance. Oh the joy.

I sincerely wish you the best of look. I am heading in the same career path as you at the moment, studying MGeoscience at Keele University. Hopefully I will be picking a career in Petrology.

What do you think regarding Abiogenic Petroleum :P ?

Hi There hobobobobobobo!!! I actually went to St. Andrew university to do Geology (Aberdeen is my home address :D) and so the course was BSc. Geoscience (no other alternatives) but I did have several different module choices to make... I can let you know more about the moduels if you like :)

Geology is a tricky one, depending on what you want to do - if you want to go Petroleum Geology and make lots of money then YES! go go go!! They are crying for people and will be for a good few years.... otherwise you are looking at Environmental or perhaps Academia (shudder) lol...

It is a lot of fun though!! Field trips are bloody great, last September I went to the Alps in Italy and Switzerland for 2 weeks! Awesome! :)

Excellent choice!! lots of money to be made and at the end of the day that counts for a lot...

I think that we won't need it when I find a brand new massive oil field in about 4 years hehehe :)
