I had it :D First proper driving lessons. I only stalled once but that was because my instructor wanted to move me away from a junction as there were loads of people.

Rekons i can get away with 30 - 40 hours of lessons.

****!

It was only £12 when I did my lessons. So that's going to cost you anything between £690-920 not including the price of the two tests

It's an expensive game getting onto the roads nowadays

Good luck with it though fella, driving is one of my greatest pleasures and you will love it too :)

..Get away with 30-40 hours.. he's taking you for a ride mate..

People 'Get Away' with less than 20 hours and pass. I did just over 20.

good luck,
i always said i wouldnt need to drive as lived and worked in the town

but now i would be totaly lost without my car or the ability to drive.
it really really is a great sense of freedom for yourself

an it probably too me a fair few more than 40 lessions
passed theory on 2nd try
passed practical on 3rd try

been driving 4years in august an its great :)

Glad your enjoying your driving, best of luck to you.

In thr IAM meeting i went to last month, we had a talk from an examiner form the DSA and the average number of lessons is now over 30. i cant believe it, i only had 20, but my sister is around 35 - 40 now.

Hope you take less than 30 lessons mate.

Yea i live in the outskirts.

He said that was an average amount, but i guess i could pass in 20-30 lessons, as im doing 1.5hours a week.

I cant do any extra driving as my parents both have automatics. :(

Glad that you are enjoying your lessons, I found mine great fun. Keep a level head and have a good time.

Its damn expecnsive though.

Hehe, nice one mate, keep going at it. Im on my 11th now with the AA at £24 per lesson :P.

My instructer has never told me how many lessons i will need but im confident with gear changes and i rarely stall at all any more, even on hills.

I had about 10 lessons with some stupid woman, then I just thought...... your rubbish and I can drive better than you! So got a new instructor and he was well good (if not a bit of a mincer, lol) and did the rest in ten lessons.

The women was so rubbish she told me never to press the gas untill my foot was all the way of the cluch, ! She was the worst driver of all time, rite 30 y.o. women that had only been drive a couple of years (she told me this). Think she was stringing it out as long as possable too.

Its wicked learning to drive, just get on with it and get confident, you will get through that gap, just close you eyes the first few times, then you will realise thats its a micra and not a plane.

Edit, lol- She also told me that I was a manure (the stuff you get out of cows asses and yes, she really thought that was the word, idiot!) because I was 20 and still at university. Basically she was miss PMT all the time and a rite looser!

Lol, she sounds like quite the driver instruct0r. "We shall now overclock the engine.."

By the end of around 12 lessons, you will have covered everything in enough detail to pass the test, and have had a couple of practice tests. Anything slower than this it's either them taking their time (money++) or you being plain sucky. :P

Get your theory test booked. :)
