a lot id imagine, there was a big thing about it a while back some dude got banned after an admin (ThePro) on mw2 spoke to him and told him to watch his mouth else he will ban him... which he then did.
anyway, the story goes that this guy then posted loads of youtube vids up saying he was innocent and the admin was a joke and needed to be sacked etc......turns out that a month or so down the line the guy got banned for hacking his console!

Yep. Even if they take their time over it, people make the mistake of unlocking them in the wrong order (completing the game before completing the first level) or unlocking achievements that didn't even make it into the final game.
We had some chap on here a while back asking why his score kept dropping to nil. He swore he hasn't been fiddling his score, until someone checked his achievement history and spotted a day when he'd got about 3000 points on really hard games.
I do think the gamerscore reset thing is a brilliantly harsh punishment. People with 25k legit gamerscore decide to hack it for another 25k... lose the whole lot. BURN.

I just don’t’ understand the logic in hacking your gamer score. I mean really, why do this? Its just a number, it means nothing. I play the games when I have time, if I get 100G or 1000G in a game then that’s good, gives me a reward to putting the time in etc…
But I’m not going to hack the score because I’m looking to stroke my ego online, can’t invest the time into the game, I suck at the game etc… I think its quite sad really.
Cheating will always be around I guess, and others won’t share my opinion, however I got 800G on Forza3 and yet didn’t get anywhere near this for COD MW, why? Because I play a lot of Forza 3 yet only played 5 – 6 hours of COD MW, enough to get me through the single player campaign, but I’m hardly going to hack my gamer score for COD MW to get max gamer score – how sad..!! lol
Just don’t see the point, or the need to do this..

Whats sadder hacking the gamescore in seconds or people spending 10's of hour's say on bioshock 2 MP boosting. Where they are just sat in lobbies not even playing the game but wasting 10's of hours to get the required rank.
I find that sort of stuff harder to understand than an exploit or hack.

Probably the majority, Halo as well I'd guess.
Remember when we were all kids before the internet?? And we used to race to play pc/console games and brag in front of our mates that we had done x,y and z before them (cheating or not).
It seems the xbox live thing is the same syndrome, except 15 years later when gaming online inflates these sort of egos way more than back in the day...
Still hilarious how serious people take their accounts and then dont realise that cheating (in these forms) completely takes the point out of the game! My flatmate hammers cod mw2 (hes got all the online xp now, nothing excited happened when he got there) and spends half the time running round sending silly messages to boosters, its funny to watch but sad that its what the game has become (it took me ages to even understand what he was talking about when I thought about it in the context of team fortress 2)

I find it interesting how most people here can jump on other people saying how stupid they are for cheating or hacking when infact how do you know they are not legit cases of MS banning to meet target numbers.

I can kind of feel a bit of sympathy for boosters trying to get achievements. I had two I just could not for the life of me get on Halo 3 and it drove me mad. It was the triple kill with the sword on a ranked FFA and the re-jacking a vehicle within 10 seconds of being booted off it in ranked FFA.
I seriously considered boosting, which is insane, I'm knocking on 40 and really shouldn't be taking this so seriously, it's just a couple of virtual medals, I get nothing for them, except them being on my gamertag for all to see (not that anyone even looks).
I even looked into how you could boost for them if you wanted to, glad I never did though, because only a month later when Reach came out a mate was lamenting on how he couldn't play it on release due to having a month ban for boosting in Halo 3, using exactly the location setting method I'd looked into lol

For the record, 'boosting' is perfectly legal providing you don't do anything that is exploiting the game mechanics. Using 3 friends to boost kills in a game is fine, because the game is designed to have friends fight/kill eachother.

As for MS having ban targets?
I have just read a load of negative comments again people jumping on someone for stating what took place.
Don't have targets are you really that stupid last years 1 million ban wave it was leaked before it happened that there was going to be million banned users and then what happened a million users was banned.
iamtheoneneo there is no need for a lot of your comments they was out of order and they do not give reasons at all even if you ask they give everyone the same rubbish we looked into it your was in breech thats it also whats wrong with symbols in your comment bit nothing in the terms saying you can't do that otherwise why do they have them on the keyboard.
Yet again your wrong every 360 account is not online as i stated my dad never went online he didn't want to so he created a tag on that 360 only wasn't connected to the internet with the console until i put my gamertag on it and then went online to get the update that is the simpliest way I can explain it to you if you don't understand that then that is your problem.
