Halo Movie to hit cinema's 2008

I can see this film selling even if it sucks like a lot of game series' do when they are made into films. Lets just hope it has a decent script/story.

The Halo books were done quite well. As long as Bungie keep control over the film I see there being little issue.

Peter Jackson is also one of the producers and an avid Halo player, I doubt he will let them ruin our story.

Problem is though will it feature Master Chief? We know there are other Spartans through the novels, but will bungie allow them to use Chief? I would imagine they would but that could make or break it for a lot of the fans just wanting to see Master Chief.

Also is it gonna be CG or Live action? I didn't see no mention of the cast or anything.

I think (hope) it will be mostly Live with only minimal CGI involvement used where absolutely nessisary.

It has to be about John 117. Lets face it most of the other spartians are dead or critically wounded.

I hope the film follows the story of the first book. It makes sence to me as the logical place for the film. It certianly can not take place during or after *** events of Halo1 because

1) I have already played through the games and if I want to see it again, I will kick the convants arse again.

2) There would need to be a significant amount of introducton of Master Chief, the spartian program and the war with the Convent. For those that have not played the games.

Fall of Reach is imo the story to tell.

Is it going to be animated or real actors etc, if it's not animated I think it will be difficult for them to capture the Halo world imo.

I haven't read the novels so it would be welcome as the story as I don't know what happens. Although if it is unreleated to the game universe at all like a lot of game movies are when made this movie will suck. (Doom movie anyone?)

I disagree, I think it is fully possible to use current techniques coupled with a little CGI to fully construct a realistic Halo world on film

Exactly, and cosidering Weta Workshop will probably be used, I can see the environment looking very good.

For me, however serious a computer game tries to be it still remains a somewhat quirky and childish endeavour. The crossover between the two mediums never seems to work for me, and somewhat tarnishes the enjoyment I had playing the game.
