I'd just put a final coat of paint on my replacement rocker cover and stepped outside the garage to read the lable as to how long it takes to dry. I then managed to drop the can (without the lid on) and, as sods law dictates, it landed nozzel down and bounced. *psst* *psst* "@#$!"

Managed to give a very fine mist of satin black over my light blue front wing and somehow a bit of the bonnet. Doh :p

Half an hour with some polish later and I've shifted 90% of it. Few tiny little specs left but they can wait.

Pointless post, just wanted to share what a dunce I am :p

Please make me feel better with your tales of stupidness :p

Silly boy!

I changed the oil in one of my cars the other day and, after draining the old stuff and replacing the filter for a nice clean new one, I started to fill her back up again (no, I did remember to refit the sump plug ;))

What I didn't do though was pay too much attention to which oil can I picked up and spent several minutes happily pouring the old cruddy oil I cleaned out of the other car about a month ago and hadn't got around to taking to the tip yet.

Damn!:D

Found a tin of paint in Halfords that looked like it could be a close enough match for me to colour code my wing mirrors or something. Got it home and wanted to try it out so I primered a small section of the rear wing on my spares car in the garage, let it dry and added some colour then went off to enjoy the sun with the GF. A little while later vix wanted me to get something from the shelves in the garage so I went in, reached across and got what I wanted. As I regained my balance I felt a tugging against my leg and my first thought was "Hmmm, not got anything magnetic in my pocket, why would I be sticking to the car....."

AAAARRGGHHHH!!!!!!

End result was the demise of my best pair of shorts and a lovely denim effect paintjob on the spares car...

That does look kind of cool :D

Thanks for the clay bar tip, I've got a few tar spots and stuff so it could do with a going over.

I'm hoping my ineptness (if that is a word) doesn't extend to fitting the thing now I've got it painted. And I only stuck it to the newspaper it was resting on once :o

My story should beat most....

I had to move my g60 so i could start repairing it. started it up with the bonnet open, after a few seconds i see smoke coming from the engine. I get out to have a look and find a split fuel pipe pouring petrol onto the manifold.

I go to switch the engine off but the drivers door is shut! The car locks itself when the engine is running and my only keys are in the ignition!

got it switched off by pulling all the ht leads. it then took me 5 mins to break in with a coathanger!

lol, while we're confessing ineptness, I drove the GT6 around for a day and kept wondering why it was running on when I turned the ignition off. I opened the bonnet to discover that I had forgotten to replace the oil filler cap when I topped it up that morning. Doh! At least everything now his a nice layer of rust proofing under there :D
