Hanging up road riding boots for good :-(

he's done amazingly well at that age,esp amongst todays traffic,id say pre 80's, traffic would have been much much less

I gave up riding over 10years ago on medical grounds after learning to ride in the late 80's, (Spinal Injury not bike related), and I miss it every day.

Even thought about getting a trike at one point but I cant sit for too long before the pain gets too much.

I will miss it right up to the end I reckon.

I've had three minor offs (10-20mph) commuting around London. They act as a slight wake-up call that life isn't a video game and that consequences can get real but ultimately, each time, I've just got on the bike, rode it home, fixed it up and carried on riding.

I do however wonder if my outlook would change when (or if...) I have children. I think I would have to reassess my priorities at that point.

...Edit...

I have to say though, nothing validates my decision to ride more than passing the 100+ cars on my way to and from work each day. Biking is the only sensible option to do my commute as I see it. I'm not crawling around in a procession of cars for hours or getting shoved in to packed tube trains every day just because there are risks involved. I take those risks and still feel better off.

Well, some people may or may not be intersted, I got on the bike Monday... gave it a little blast... checked pressures etc and made sure it was tip top... then decided I need a Dynojet Stage 1 hahaha to go with the new Motad stainless downpipes I've purchased...

So, the question is, does this mean I'm back, or simply I'm bored lol
