I did that to a guy in my team. Pulled him aside and told him that my team always had cakes when it was someone's birthday. I then explained that rather than everybody chipping in 10 times a year, it was easier if your birthday fell on a weekday just to bring in cakes yourself.

Cakes were had.

We do that here. if it's your birthday, you bring the cakes! (and sausage rolls, and swiss rolls, cherry bakewells, chocolate covered rice krispies, doughnuts, iced buns, a selection of fresh fruit...)

We just did it once :P Although I do have a couple of vacancies, so perhaps we'll do it again!
