Hard Drive Fail-Is it possible to find out what's wrong? where do I go from here....?

Well, Today I turned on my computer to receive the warning 'Windows detected a hard disk problem'. I downloaded 'SeaTools' and have scanned through various options, with the hard drive failing all the tests. I assume that there is nothing really that can be done? and the best thing to do would be to backup all my data and get myself a new drive....

unless... anybody knows some tools I should download to try and find out what the problem is? / If its possible to be fixed once I know what the problem is.

If the only solution is a replacement, I would rather find out if i'm still under warranty. Checking the Samsung website however, there isn't an option to check for my hard drive. what does this mean in terms of getting a replacement?

The drive is;
Samsung SpinPoint F1 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD502IJ)

bought from OCUK on the 26 May, 2008.

I've never had hard drive failure before so don't really know the 'standard procedure' of checks / possible fixes (although I'm assuming this error means its only a matter of time before the drives breaks) :(

Any advice/help would be grateful
Thanks

There is nothing you can do. You have a 3 year warranty so you are covered. Backup your data and go through www.rexo.co.uk for samsung RMA's.

edit: Out of interest has it been making more noise than usual lately? My Samsung F1 has started to fail and was bought ~June '08. It still passes all the Seatools tests but it's certainly not healthy!

thanks for the reply. shame about this hassle but at least it's under warranty.
I have noticed noises for a while. At first I thought it was the hard drive in my freeview box, because It was the kind of noise I've never heard before. I've had that unplugged for a while now though and the noise kept happening...not too often, but maybe once every few days. Sort of a click followed by the sound of a busy hard drive...but not the kind i've ever heard before :S. anyway. I guess that may have been was an indicator of something.
Looks like i'll be spending a lot of time on the laptop from now on

Edit: The website you listed said "Please contact the retailer where you purchased your Samsung drive for a replacement first" should I contact OCUK first then?
