Morning all, just bought a NAS that I'm going to stick my WD 2TB HDD into, for now I have ~100gb free and can keep deleting things to make room if necessary.

I was looking at getting 2x3TB drives so I never have to worry but these prices are still crazy - does anyone have any 'inside' news to when we can expect stock levels to return & prices to substantially drop?

I was having the same problem.
I been deleting stuff all the time to make space for new stuff for about the last 12months :(

So Last week i had enough of working out what to delete/keep so i ordered these :)

Ridiculous prices still...

On the 11/7/2011 I paid £62.49 ex-VAT for this drive from OCUK http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-077-HI&groupid=1657&catid=1660&subcat=1954 and now they are asking £141.66 ex-VAT.

I purchased 3 as you can see below.
£62.49 x 3 - Hitachi Deskstar 7K3000 2TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM - OEM (0F12115) (HDS723020BLA642)

Till the drives come back down to these prices again I won't be buying any and will make use of my drives better and clear out junk, also I will look for deals on drives till they come back down to these prices again or lower. Drives are not worth these prices they are selling at now and I go threw many drives and not one brand I have used so far proves to be 100% reliable or worth that sort of money they are priced at now. I paid £140 not long before the Hitachi drives for the 2TB WD Caviar Black 2TB...prices were high on this drive from day one and never really came down a lot and I felt ripped off but it has proved so far to be a good fast drive (fingers crossed).. I only paid that because I read very good reviews and wanted a fast boot drive and not an SSD because of all the horror stories around them back then.

1TB drives will most likely not return to these levels. Instead the prices of 2 and 3TB drives will drop to the point where it's not worth making/purchasing 1TB drives.
