Harlem Globetrotters, Manchester Evening News Arena

Great pics, love the colours and composition of them.

Just thought i'd say  at that one of the guy with the 500mm, never seen a lens that big. Would love one like that.

Would there really be much point in having a 500mm at an event like that?
Other than taking pictures of the players nostril hairs that is!

pretty sure that's a 400mm F2.8L IS? could be wrong though :x

Yea they are pretty useless, but hey ho, his choice.

Thanks for the comments guys :)

Cheers,

Tom.

Pretty sure that it is the 500mm. Either way lens does seem a bit excessive though!

Here's a picture of the 400mm F2.8 L IS

and the 500mm F4 L IS

It's a 500mm F4, the diameter is not wide enough to be a 400 F2.8

Exactly, bit pointless to be honest. Once you a had a couple of close up shots of the basket with some hands holding off it, it would be useless.

and now for what wouldve been my favourite shot, if for some reason my 20D hadnt decided to under expose it, and only it....the only shot that wasnt exposed well the ENTIRE night and it's possibly the most exclusive capture ive ever made :( quick recovery job and its not TOO bad, but ill give it a few hours tomorrow. And yes, he did just jump over the referee ;)
Use Partial Metering; the camera might have taken the bright sign near the top into account.

Wonderful images, thats all I really want to say because they are, wonderful :)

great pictures, but a lot of those pics are missing a real sence of height. If you could see the floor in the shots with the guys jumping at the hoop, they would have a much greater impact IMO. That aside, lovely shots:)

Way ahead of you fella, i was using partial metering. As I said, that was the only shot that in the whole game where it was significantly badly exposed.

As for the getting the floor on, unfortunately i dont have a 2nd body or a fast wide angle lens. I'd love to be able to set up a remote camera underneath the basket that triggers whenever i shoot with the main, but alas, funds do not permit :)
