Has anyone been caught doing 85mph in a 60 limit?

I think i got caught doing around 85mph in a 60, apparently if im anymore than 40% over the 60 limit i will loose my license :( has anyone been in a similar situation?

To my shame I was stopped about 15 years ago doing 59 in a 30 and got a warning as he was solo at the time - I've been much better since, needed to be and woudln't have been that lucky again.

Were you stopped or was it a camera?
 
Yes, I have on the A9.

3 points and £60. You won't get a ban or more serious punishment unless you were on two wheels whilst flipping the bird at the polis.

It sounds like it was a fixed/mobile camera that got you but unless they have video of you doing something stupid that could be deemed dangerous, should be a fixed penalty.

And i suppose you know its 50 from your calibrated and certified radar gun? I've driven UNDER the limit many times and people started flailing and wailing at me to slow down, percieved speed and true speed can be wayy off, especially when you get old.
 
Under the guidelines, 86 in a 60 will be a court summons, 85 will be a Conditional Offer, 3 points, 60 pounds. Also if your speedo was pointing at 85 you were probably only doing 80.

If I write up a speeding ticket FAQ can someone sticky it because this comes up all the bloody time here.
 
Got the fine in today, only got flashed last friday, was quick. 3 points and 60 fine...not as bad as i thought, it says i was doing 73mph, the speedo was definitly above 80. Thanks for the replys lads, made me worry less lol.
 
Where did you get caught? Need to keep an eye out for them! I've only ever seen the vans on the A82 and once on the A77 (next to the new M77) in Scotland. On 60mph roads anyway.
