Has IDE Gone from all new motherboards?

More or less :(

However there are some z68 boards that have pci slots so a cheap pci-ide card that you may have laying around could be the solution.

I've tried 2 cheap SATA/IDE adapters that can be found on the bay and they just don't seem to work

Alternatively bite the bullet and just buy a SATA drive.... they're only like 10-15 quid

Pretty much, a few still have it though. I just bought a £12 sata dvd drive when upgrading, figured i'll need one for my next upgrade anyway when ide will be even rarer.

haha. Why anyone would want to ruin their pretty cable management with a big manky ribbon cable I have no idea!

Sata all the way :D

On the other hand all my drives in my current gaming PC are SATA and I would happily have IDE back, whoever created the flimsy poor quality SATA connectors on drives needs to be publicly flogged! Rounded IDE cables were easy to route and once in the drive they required a decent amount of force to remove, bring em back I say!

Do you also super glue your IDE cables onto the motherboard :D

( Anyone remember this mad era ? LOL )
